Agreed. So is most spending.
Our politicians are more interested in entering the top 1% for the coming monetization of the debt, than they are in stopping the debt problem. They are taking care of themselves We should all be trying to take care of ourselves as best we can as well, because they will not take care of us.
The monetization of the debt will harm the bottom 50% worse than anyone, so don't believe that Congress cares about the bottom 50% when they spend more and make the debt problem worse. When they spend on the bottom 50%, they are just buying votes for now, to make the gravy train last a little longer so they can be more ready themselves. Granted, if they can convert our government into a socialist/communist regime, then the wealth of the powerful last longer. But there is no guarantee they can pull that off.
Having said that, I'll take any benefit I can to help me prepare, unless and until Congress indicates it cares more about the nation than their own power or wealth.
Agree, it should be used to pay down the debt.
Or to shore up Social Security.
