Because HE's not in favor of women being forced or coerced into pregnancies they never wanted...and
not being able to decide for themselves whether or not to carry them to term.
BTW, the RCC allows any priest to forgive the sin of abortion in the confessional...as it does with forgiving the sin of killing another person during a Just War. (supporting substance available on request).
