While I personally grew up in CA and agree with everything he said - it really was a heaven through the 90s - I left in 98 and passed on several opportunities to go back in the 00s and 10s. And hey, if that's the way people there now want it, ok. But, there needs to be other alternatives.
The thing I do notice about CA, especially in LA and SF when I'm there, is that the left orthodoxy is very strong. Not a lot of room for dissenting opinions. SF was always insanely liberal, and when I lived there, I knew that and it was cost of doing business. But, that insanity has overtaken the coast in general.
Not for me. Let's hope they just keep the crazy in CA.
Hopefully the rest of the country will notice what California is "experimenting" with.
