The outrage that will ensue without extension of subsidies will hit 11 on the Spinal Tap amp.
Funny thing is... the silence of the insurance industry is deafening.

This is why I have newfound respect for MTG.
...since fixing Democrat problems is usually best done by repeal, not by doubling down.
Libertarians, just sit on their hands and criticize...with the hope that we'll return to the inefficient and inequitable HC system that cost 2X more than in any other developed country on earth...that is the reality we've been experiencing for the last 15 yrs.
Doesn't it feel disgusting to make that argument you've been fed?
Too bad both parties have abandoned fiscal responsibility.
Right now, we just pick between which party we want in charge when the financial collapse comes. Personally, I'd rather the GOP be in charge. The world doesn't need another Soviet Union or People's Republic. It would take so much longer to recover, which would screw our children (and frankly, the world) far worse.
We get capitalism on the way up and socialism on the way down. We've created an insane system of cronyism where it's impossible to navigate the labyrinth for anyone outside of the elite that control the labyrinth. This is the hard problem, everything else is the noise called music we're supposed to be satiated by.
Imagine a one page tax code with no deductions or credits, where everyone could do their own taxes. It would destroy an entire tax industry that sucks the blood out of the system with no return for societal benefit. Imagine a society where tax accountants and tax lawyers had to do something that benefitted society instead. But we will be told that would be unjust by those who secretly support the rich while publicly stating that they support the poor by getting them on the dole as opposed to enabling them to independently succeed.

They were very upset at the GOP...so much so that they were willing to take paychecks away from young military families.
These are good friends (and in one case a relative), but it is hard to watch their hypocrisy and artificial/misdirected outrage.
butt and suggest improvements...it's been over a dozen years now...or have you given it ANY thought at all?
Obamacare was never imagined as the "End Game"...much more needs to be done to get our HC costs cut in half...like virtually every other developed nation on this planet. The "For Profit" HC model is clearly not working.
Once again, if you're really interested/concerned, at least do some reading on the topic...e.g. "America's Bitter Pill" by Steven Brill...and check out his recommendations for the future.
It was like funding half of a high speed rail, delivering a quarter of it, then demanding the rest of the money later because we already started something that will never fix the problem.
Remember that it was the Heritage Foundation that came up with "Romneycare" and the 'Individual Mandate' for Massachusetts...upon which, Obama was able to force insurance Co's to relent on Pre-Existing conditions, etc. Wish the HF would join with Brookings and work together on this extremely important issue. Agree?
To say that the ACA is not perfect is as trite as you can get. Democrats are more than willing to improve upon it...unfortunately, the GOP is just the legislative arm of the HC Industry and the reason our HC costs are 2X that of any other developed country.
Time to get serious and start discussing specific remedies...especially on how to get RID of the Middlemen.
We see this with Obama care, government student loans, and the like. You would destroy our government with side programs (that distract from or directly undermine primary government duties like defense and justice) that sound nice but which end up making conditions worse for people ... all in the apparent hope that a socialistic revolution comes, in which case things will get even worse.
Note that the government created the situation in which people had to have full time jobs for health benefits by making it cheaper for companies to provide it...another problem created by government to solve a problem, which does not solve the problem and therefore requires another government solution. The same thing is happening with Obamacare. You offered a non-solution, criticized the Right for not doing so...and here we go again, another non-solution proposed by you, and you criticize the Right for not doing something. Meanwhile, you achieve only 2 things: You worsen the problem you say you are trying to solve, and you put more and more of the economy under the control of, or subject to the direct funding of, the government. The only proven result you have is growing a monstrous and inefficient government.
more and more, the Affordable Care Act...under the heading of 'Don't let Perfection get in the way of Progress'...each of them, and many others, could use improvement...some more than others.
Let's keep working together to find those 'Better' solutions...
btw, don't forget the downside of assuming the 'Free Market' will always act in the public's best interests...surely you're aware of the Sherman and Clayton Acts...as well as the entire Anti-Trust Division within the DOJ.
IMO it's an "Art Form" to maintain an 'acceptable balance' between Government Regulation and Unfettered Decision Making...always has been...always will be.

How ironic that our progressives are enriching the rich.
well as ensuring that even the least costly plans provided sufficient care...while also assuring that HC wouldn't be cancelled arbitrarily. In short the ACA needed to "Deal with the Devil" in order to make any progress at all. Unless you're trying to cover for the Insurance Co's, wake up to the Reality, and History of HC in America.
