I have seen a case of someone's 11th DUI. It's seen here as, "Well, it could happen to anyone." People from other parts of the country move here and are shocked at the drinking culture.
I’m not sure how expansive a DUI is in your area, but out here it can cost upwards of 5k or more.
The Tavern League would hit the roof here if they were handing out fines like that on the first couple DUI offenses.

considered.
My hometown was in the Guinness Book of World Records for a time for the "most bars in a one square mile area" in the world. There are tiny bumps in the road here where there almost as many taverns as houses. I mean like five houses, three taverns and a gas station. I was about to say that anyone who has been in rural Wisconsin knows this, but also look at Milwaukee. How many bars are located in the greater Milwaukee area? Madison, too. There were Catholic churches in my county that had taps in the basement. It was not uncommon when I was growing up for parents to have their sub ten year-old kids sitting at the bar with them. Get 'em started early with kiddie cocktails. To put in political perspective, the Tavern League has more influence over state government than the teachers' unions.
And I was never caught, but probably should have been. I can’t fathom getting behind the wheel after drinking now.
