It’s partly about oil, but partly about Russia and China in our hemisphere.
It’s a blunt way to make the point, and opens the door to more Russian action in Europe and Chinese action in Taiwan and their hemisphere.
Probably ok for Trump’s term but once he is out, problems could arise.
You're absolutely right about the global implications...especially wrt China, which has been quite
involved with Venezuela's oil infrastructure...but the U.S. NEED for Venezuelan oil is tantamount (see my video re-post in this thread).
Not sure why you think 'problems' will arise only after Trump leaves office...as of right now, 28 million Venezuelans are in need of a functioning government...and that is a Huge question...just imagine if you can the scope of responsibilities that the U.S. has just taken on.....me thinks there will be some opposition to be dealt with...throughout the 353K sq miles that compose Venezuela.

In actuality, I don't know Trump's plans as well as you say you do, so I'll just wait and see.
