The issue could merely be allowing biological males to play women's sports OR it could be a much broader ruling regarding biological males "presence" in any female exclusive venue.
If you think that illegal immigration is a trigger issue for progressives you are in for a big surprise if the Supremes rule in favor of a biological red line.
We've already seen that this issue enflames rage on the left that includes ultra-violence (see Charlie Kirk).
For reasons that are too deep to delve into here, the progressives decided to add the T to the LBGTQ+++ agenda and make it central to their obsessions.
If they lose, this threatens the whole concept of gender fluidity... which is sooooo important to their base.
My guess is that Roberts will do his utmost to craft as narrow an opinion as possible in order to minimize the reactive outrage to an adverse decision.
Pay attention to oral arguments today for hints on what the Court will decide early next summer... IN TIME TO BE A FACTOR IN THE MIDTERMS.

Issues like this get people like Trump elected.
It is an 80/20 issue, and the Dems are aggressively on the 20 side.
Dems are going against tradition, common sense, past law, and biological science. Dems are opposing needed healthcare for people who are not able to correctly identify their own sex. Dems want to misogynisticly create a situation which destroys female sports.
This lowers the bar for most Americans to vote GOP, allowing someone like Trump win office, when he might otherwise destroy his own chances of winning. People say, "Well, Trump may be a total ass, but at least he isn't as bat-shit crazy as the Dems are."

Hopefully, our SCOTUS will recognize Gender Dysphoria as a certified Mental Disorder in need of
treatment and care...as is being done at our best Medical Centers (Mayo Clinic, Boston Children's Hospital, UCLA, UCSF....)
As for transgender female GD patients participating in female sports, I side with former Olympic Champion, Donna de Verona, is limiting it to those who have yet to go through puberty...after that, they should compete amongst themselves.
Above all, GD is a serious disorder that has far too many suicides due to societal pressures on this small community of patients.
