Fasten your seatbelt Bear fans. Update on a recent discussion.

NFL comish and Bear owners took a tour of a possible stadium site in NW Indiana, Hammond Indiana to be exact. They also toured Arlington Heights Illinois and actually conducted a travel time test from Chicago to both locations. Bear ticket holders were sent a survey asking their opinion on the NW Indiana location. The Hammond site is just across the Illinois / Indiana border. Illinois residents go there anyway to get their cigs, gas, and fireworks so they might as well take in a Bear game while they are there.

Doubtful Indiana will ever get the Bears. I'm not against it, but it feels like this move is more

about getting the state to focus more on their new stadium. I believe the lawmakers said the new stadium isn't a priority for them in 2026. It's like a game of chicken. We'll see who swerves first.

Who paid for Soldier Field upgrades? If not the Bears, then I have a problem with it….

…..I fully understand wanting to get out of the deep blue city nightmare that is Chicago and its taxes/regs/crime/corruption.

But the Bears should pay the tax payers back for any costs they dotted wrt their football facilities if they are going to now leave.
Most teams have it covered by the city taxpayers these days which is BS given their profitability. I understand that they probably can avoid such payment if they leave, but that still doesn’t make it right.

Kind of like the NY Jets/Giants playing in NJ. Or the Chiefs moving from MO to KS.

Would everyone need to take that GD skyway where there are multiple tolls?

Maybe would solve the Illinois budget woes.

Chicago Skyway leads to Indiana Tollway a short distance. Get off most likely at Calumet Ave

I'll believe it when I actually see it.

The Skyway has been under construction since 1974.

My understanding is also that CHI sold it to China front company to cover some debt….

…….which they of course spent their way through rather than paying down the debt.

Would like some confirmation of this urban tale if anyone knows.

Mayor is a ND grad. Guess it could happen with south side, Crown Point, etc.

Hammond. A bit run down but cheap land.

Crown Point mention threw me. Doubt it will happen but if it does, it's Hammond.
