I’ve always been impressed with how quickly they shut off benefits. Including clawbacks days after
my mother in-law died. Now granted my brother in-law had already cleaned all of the cash out of her checking account with her ATM so the clawback overdrafted the account. (Which resulted in a mess another brother in-law needed to deal with—but.)
Similar to when my father died. Next check to my mom was reduced accordingly when he passed away.
My dad passed away this year and the energy put into stopping his benefits was surprising
My mom was getting called weekly by SS and Medicare telling her that she could no longer collect his benefits. She had already taken action to turn off all the necessaries but was shocked at how much attention this seemed to be getting.
