I don’t know why he is spending so much time worrying about the fate of the already-born.

But this treaty was signed by Obama…so it’s dead.

Indeed. His second sentence is key.

A concrete and effective follow up needs to be pursued at all costs. But to be effective, it must be equal bilaterally rather than strategically disadvantageous to one side which would result in a higher chance yet of war.
But "avoiding another arms race" is already somewhat of an instance of the cows already having left the barn, is it not?

The Pope is pleading for the goal of world peace and the avoidance of nuclear war. We all agree with that in the western world. Not so w Russia in the past (outside of Gorbachev).
The Pope does advocate HOW to do this as this is not in his area, but that it be pursued in good faith.
If you think that he is suggesting accepting any deal, even an appeasement policy to the US's disadvantage, you would be wrong (just a hunch based on your years of stances and your hatred of anything Trump does whatsoever) - in fact it would be counter productive to his goal of peace. That is specifically why he included his second sentence which mentions the deal needing to be "concrete and effective".

If I am wrong about your stance, I'm sorry.

Shall US/UN offer to cede Ukrainian land already seized to get new long term treaty?

1) We give them something they will never give up anyways without a nuclear escalation to the war

2) We get a treaty that achieves a safer world for all - even the Ukrainians

3) We end the horrible bloodshed and killing of a war that we have no hope of winning.

4) Only Zelensky (and maybe Dems) lose, but even they are safer.

5) It’s an appeasement deal, but it also has a big benefit for our side and theirs.

We all should embrace Pope Leo's plea...that includes you too.
