I read the book. Terrifying.
There is no ambiguity about the ending.
How close is the movie to the book?
Because the movie stops when the missile is about to hit and the president hasn't made a decision on how to proceed.
The book goes much further
Its title - Nuclear War - is a spoiler. The author is Annie Jacobs, and she did her homework.
I don't read much fiction but I might have to check this one out.

Disappointed.
I wanted to at least find out who was responsible for attacking the US.
I thought it was very well done overall.
My wife was so pissed about the end, I just laughed about it. I kind of like leaving it open ended.
I did enjoy the movie as a whole. Tracy Letts as the SAC General stole the show.
It was one of the rare movies where I wanted it to last 5-10 minutes more.
One more question:
What did you think of the SecDef just walking off the roof, that was a bit bizarre.
It was bizarre.
Earlier in the film, when we hear the commotion (off-camera), I was racking my brain as to how that would play out. Wasn't expecting a walk off the Pentagon roof.
