If that's the case, this is a British issue not tied with the United States. At least that's what I've been hearing all morning long from different media outlets.

...so at best the Brits could get him on is a sextrafficking of adults case.... no "child molestation" of a 17-year-old in Britain, only in the US. Instead, they are going with the state secrets / insider trading types of crimes.

Us..not so much. Ted Lieu made some really explosive accusations yesterday - the kind that would certainly bring legal action if they are false. If he is lying, then Trump would have grounds to sue his pants off. If not, however....wow.

I don't think Lieu can be sued. His speech is likely protected by the speech or debate clause.

And I salute them for this.

If Trump raped children he should be in prison, same as everyone else involved in the crimes and the coverups. We are at a time in this country where most of the general public does not have faith in our institutions, this is very bad for democracy. Time to step up or get out of the way, Pam! Same goes for you, Kash!

Names they made a a big deal about. The unmasked innocent people.

You’re right that anyone associated with what Epstein did with trafficking and abuse needs to be arrested. I don’t see it happening though. They are probably rich and powerful and no way are they going to be taken down easily. It’s a disgusting situation that should not be this difficult to deal with. These people circle the wagons to protect their vile lifestyle. If Trump is involved, he needs to be prosecuted. Just like everyone else.

I do believe Epstein "killed himself" under the following circumstances...

Epstein knew full well who he was dealing with, who he had dirt on, and how much power they had, could bring to bear, and just what they could make happen.

When he was going to the Manhattan Correctional Center he was delivered a message that essentially consisted of the following:

1) You know you possess too much information and are too dangerous to live.
2) You will be provided with the means to commit suicide in the following manner. You will be told exactly when to do it and we will see to it that the cameras are disabled and the guards are looking the other way for the necessary amount of time for you to complete the task.
3) IF you FAIL TO SUCCEED, we will be forced to have you executed in jail in very short order AND we WILL see that it is then carried out in the most brutal, painful and disfiguring way possible.
4) This is the best deal you will get. You are a smart enough man to know what to do now.

In this way, Epstein's death was actually a homicide...but he was forced to be the accomplice...and, as such, the end result was consistent with suicide for the Coroner's purposes.

Recall that the FBI destroyed the raw footage of the cameras that were working, and lied about it. I can accept that people make mistakes, but when people lie about it we have problems. "Hey, okay, yes we lied about that, but everything else we said was true." Sure.

Keep in mind there are statutes of limitations.

Keep in mind there has to be substantial evidence to charge folks.

Keep in mind a sitting President cannot be indicted.

What that means, who knows? But possible that he has certain obligations while serving in his role that go beyond the basic charges. E.g., duty to uphold appropriate appearance of the Crown, which is called into question by associating on sex island.

Could also be entirely performative.
