Ot is this only a "pilot" program intended to get folks hooked on the free public transportation scheme?

As one who actually lives in NYC, I'm hoping it doesn't happen. A better idea is, lower the fare to
.50 cents perhaps (just using a figure as an example). It suddenly becomes affordable, the city can cut down on
car transportation by creating open bus lanes and so on. Just examples of course.
Free busses won't solve anything and will likely create problems that cannot be fixed. Making above ground
transportation affordable to everyone so that it's a first option when moving about the city is as I see it the smart thing to do.
Rich foreigners won't be taking the bus.
Free public transportation is fine by me in a place like NYC.
He wants the NY state taxpayers pay the $100 million cost.
That will go over well upstate.

VA..Chapel Hill NC...Tucson, AZ...Albany, NY...Corvallis, OR...Miami, FL...Bozeman, MT....Park City, UT...and others...all offer Free Bus Service.
