We should be dipping into the strategic petroluem reserve

This is what it's there for. I can't fathom why we are not doing it....except that maybe Trump criticized Biden for doing it.

Everything about this war - apart from the tactical brilliance of our military - is so fucking stupid.

I guess the technical miliary brilliance doesn't matter according to the rest of your post.

The president has been hinting that he is going to declare victory and end it.

One of the bonuses about never really discussing the war aims is that you can declare the mission over at any time.

But the economic ramifications might well prevent a long war. Regime-change fans would be so disappointed.

This is a genuine question, not a joke. I mean, Iran may get a sense that Trump doesn't have the stomach for a prolonged engagement so they see an opportunity here.

For a war to end, both sides need to stop.

This is a very legitimate question. The Left is doing their best to get us to stop.

So, of course that gives aid and comfort to the enemy, and of course they listen to people like Chris, and wonder how long Trump will have the stomach for this when Americans want to stop him.

The are taking a beating, and clearly want the beating to end. They will see it as a victory, as having outlasted the attack. This regime would have survived.

After all, they were not attacking anyone before this started. None of the proxies were either. They were not actually a threat to anyone, despite what this lying administration says. Especially their navy - I really don't understand our obsession with their tiny, pathetic navy.

We'll probably have to do it all again in a year or so.

This war is pointless in terms of US national security. The Israelis have wanted us to do this for more than a decade. Every president has said no until this idiot.

Yes, let's deplete the SPR, so we don't have a reserve if we need it in a time of war.

We should never diminish the SPR unless Congress declares war. That will ensure that it is always there when we really need it.

The SPR is at 415M barrels, about 58% full. Even on the high side, 42 cents a gallon, this does not seem like a wise choice.

people of all shades and backgrounds.

But I digress...the SPR works...while Biden replaced a significant amount of what was released (at a profit)...DJT failed to restore any of the remaining capacity, even though prices were low, and now we're in a bit of a pickle. Reminds me of how in the first three years of his first term he also failed to restock the 'Strategic National Stockpile' (SNS) with N95 Masks and Ventilators that were desperately needed when the COVID-19 pandemic hit...something to do with Obama having given him a "Pandemic Preparedness Plan" that of course DJT flat out refused to accept, just because...would you believe it...it came from Obama.

Trump is a curse on this country...and the free world.

If this goes on another few weeks, gas prices will be at record highs - and the US economy will suffer. it has nothing to do with market corrections.

Economic health is what we call a "vital national interest."

Draw upon the reserve in times of crisis and fill it back up when the crisis passes. That is what it is for.

These extremist clerics and followers think in terms of Suicide Attacks…this conflict isn’t going to end in “Unconditional Surrender”…

Can you say “Global Recession”?
