I'm sure the California legislature will find a way to tax SOMETHING to make up the shortfall.

You could have just as easily penned your post about Dallas' DART system, instead of letting

your 'Jaundice' for all things CA take control...wrt BART the effect of COVID-19 on increased remote working has dramatically affected transit ridership into the city...and the same 'pathology' is being evidenced in other large urban areas of the country. White collar workers can benefit from stay-at-home jobs, but not so much for low income workers, as mentioned in the attached Texas Tribune article.

Just be glad that CA doesn't think like the affluent Dallas suburban cities do and decide it's 'overpaying' taxes to the federal government for what it gets back in return.

Oh, and consider getting some help for that "Jaundice" condition of yours.

I've been told that ridership is down due to safety issues.

Used to be that professionals road DART instead of commuting in cars. Apparently, not so much anymore.

I know this is something you would oppose, but all they have to do is make the ride safe, and riders would return. Instead, things like this happen. This is happening in other cities as well. The death of mass transit is due to a lack of safety.

They just need to re-brand it as Fremont Area Rapid Transit...

Safety on Public Transit lines has always been an issue, even when systems like BART were packed

with riders prior to the arrival of COVID and Work-From-Home culture change for 'professionals', so crimes of violence and property theft aren't the reason for drop offs in usage.

BTW...Try harder to be a little less self-absorbed and generate some empathy for those who are unable to "Work From Home" and still earn a living.
