Pardon me if I feel a bit sorry for the people whose utter misery is central to the US strategy. We are crushing them into changing their government.

But fuck it. USA! USA!

As someone with friends who are part of the Cuban diaspora... I'm hoping for a peaceful transition.

To a degree the US contributed to the whole Castro phenomenon back in the day by supporting the brutally repressive regime that Castro overthrew.

Of course the diaspora wants a transition

And the people there would certainly benefit.

But the people who left are not the ones to consult. Like Rubio, their hatred of the regime outweighs their concern for US national interests.

Same with Iranian exiles.

Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant, then it tries to silence good.

What are the US interests in your view?

I'm always suspect that they are selfish in nature, regardless of who is in charge.

It’s a shitty government. Assholes.

It’s also no threat to us.

Why do you hate the Cubans and Iranians (and North Koreans, etc.)

Why do you think they don't deserve the chance at "democracy", a chance to choose between people like Trump and Kamala?

Cuba is no threat to us. Iran was no threat to us. Iraq was no threat to us.

The notion that Cuba poses some threat to US interests is fucking laughable.

But our Secretary of State has favored regime change his whole life.

Yes, Syria was no threat to us, yet we're still there, illegally per Conor...

Somalia, Libya, Yemen, etc.

Iraq is probably better off than they were.

So, should we engage in "isolationism" and not care about these other humans? Is that your foreign policy position?

Not what I am saying

Did we help the Iraqi people by sparking a civil war that killed hundreds of thousands of them?

If we actually gave a shit about the Cuban people, we’d drop the sanctions and buy their stuff. The regime would fear openness more than the standoff. Instead we destroyed their power grid.

So don’t tell me you care more about them than I do. Because that’s bullshit.

And if you think this war is helping the Iranian people, you’re not paying attention.

Your humanitarian long-term strategy for Iranian people (especially women and gays) would be?

I oppose US attacks on countries that pose no threat to us.

Those are not contradictory ideas.

Your brethren may label you MAGA for such.

And I have no quarrels with that perspective, mine is that we should be working on the Western hemisphere while letting Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East to solve their shit organically.

When I was young it was the other way around,

Politics too often forces the opposition to take absurd positions.
