Governor Jelly Belly could care less. BLM Brandon Johnson cares less even more. Sheridan's own school (Loyola of Chicago) actually is on the side of open borders and illegals. The Loyola school paper apologized for using the term "illegal immigrant" when they first reported the story. I'm sure it was by brute force from the diocese, school administrators, student body, and faculty that forced the retraction. The school editor now has to live with not reporting the truth. They all turned their back on beautiful Sheridan Gorman.

As far as effective measures, I assume you mean gun confiscation. That would require an Article V Amendment to the US Constitution. Obviously that won't happen. If it did, there would be a revolution. Law abiding citizens just won't give up their right to defend their families. The only way to solve this problem is to keep the border closed, expel criminals, put US citizen criminals in jail (not release them to prey upon the public as the Dems like to do), and re-open the insane asylums and provide mental healthcare to people once again (rather than encouraging their mental illness, and/or leaving them to fend for themselves on the streets, both strategies that the Democrats promote).
Just one example of the GOP mentality when it comes to gun control legislation...i.e. they want
more weapons in the hands of just about anyone with the cash. As to your other points...
