Europe... tired and old and willingly feeble.

It's hard to imagine a group of nations collectively deciding to simply capitulate lo life's challenges like an old elephant wandering away from the herd to go die in the jungle... but here we are.

The Euros once created the modern world with tireless energy and creativity and above all WILL.

Today these peoples act like residents of an old folks home.

They seem to need that everything be given to them by the state without personal effort... and without any appreciation from where the state obtains the resources to meet their insatiable needs.

Is this our ultimate fate as well?

Then there’s Europe’s rational response to the very real crisis of Climate Change as opposed to Trump’s dismissal based on $$$$ support from the O&G industry…along with his handler in Moscow.

Nothing good can come from Trump…get off the fence and ditch him.

Thanks to the MAGA contingent, we are saddled with an easily manipulated President with massive insecurities who can't save himself, much less the USA. Wake up to reality...the Europeans are the epitome of rationality compared to our current "Leadership"...and we could use their help now in our hour of need.

Hedonism, nihilism & individualism have had a long-term negative impact on the west.

I think the risks to the U.S. are different than Europe but potentially muted. Europe will become slave to Muslim ideology; the U.S., the digital state.

It's almost like humanity is not well evolved for peace and security.

Book: Douglas Murray, The Strange Death of Europe

Wikipedia thesis summary (which may or may not be fair): Murray contends that European civilization as it has historically existed will not survive. He explores two factors in explaining this: The first is the combination of mass migration of new peoples into Europe together with its low birth rates; the second is what Murray describes as "the fact that… at the same time Europe lost faith in its beliefs, traditions, and legitimacy".

In many of his interviews, Murray discusses how Europe detests its own traditions and history as evil, and lauds non-European traditions. That is happening in the US as well, as the Left considers it racist to celebrate US heritage, but it constantly seeks to celebrate non-US heritage.

Trump is the natural and predictable backlash to this. But, while I hoped he was chemotherapy for the US soul, I now wonder if he is merely the manifestation of death throes of the US. We shall see.

[I can't see the FT link, by the way. Looks like the author wrote a similar piece in 2011. Or perhaps they are the same.]

When you provide guaranteed education and health care, those immigrants respond with appreciation and hard work...just like other Human Beings.

That was his point, that the Left argues for it, as you do.

Also, your Neanderthal comment is racist.

Yet, you want to make this about "patriotism."

We are Americans. Sorry if we are critical of Trump's decision to go to war, without a plan, without congressional approval, without allied support, and worse, without any strategic focus. This war is substantially helping Russia.

Because of voters like you, the United States is now a rogue superpower.
