Which is what this post is about.

I'd rather we withdraw all troops from the 700+ military bases throughout the world, especially the hayseed national guard in Syria. But if we're intent on bomb someone, to smithereens, the Mullahs are a fine target.

about.

And other than that they have promised to destroy America and Israel at the first opportunity.

You have already stated your stance that you believe Iran over the US. We all know whose side you stand on. We all KNEW what side you would stand on with Trump as president, no matter what.

But every time you claim that the war is "stupid and pointless", you do so knowing that there is a good explanation that you dismiss.

But if he doesn't, then you are one of the reasons for this war. You knew who he was. You voted for him anyway.

The choice was always JCPOA or war. I've said it for years.

You got your war. Hope you are happy. And remember - some unborn will likely be killed too.

Thread Level: 7

You omit that R's promised to undo JCPOA (which BO did unilaterally w/out congress support anyways)-

because everyone sane person knew that the Iranians could not be trusted. He nonetheless gave them cash in a deal that he KNEW had to be undone in pursuit of his foreign policy legacy.

Iran's recent missile attack aimed at Diego Garcia using tech they just promised that they didn't have a week prior was evidence that they would lie and have been lying about their capabilities as they proceed toward their goal of becoming a nuclear power. And Iran has stated clearly in action and in deed what they would do if they obtain that power.

JCPOA was always their best avenue to obtaining nuclear capability back when they had been beaten down financially and technologically for their terrorist actions.
It relied on gullibility, appeasement, and Obama's Islamocentric worldview (perhaps the reason for his gullibility).

A "whataboutism" requires one side to justify a mistake by pointing to a mistake made by the other side. But conservatives made no mistake here. The Iranian mess is all your doing. All of it.

Removing the Iranian nuclear threat was essential.

I would explain how pathetically wrong you are about the JCPOA...but there is no point. You're just pathetically wrong.

The choice was JCPOA or war. Trump chose the latter.

T or F: From onset of JCPOA in Jan'16, IAEA was never able to certify that Iran was in compliance?

Interesting fact:
"In each quarter since Jan 2016, the IAEA reported that it was still unable to determine that Iran has no undeclared nuclear facilities and materials and thus cannot conclude that Iran's nuclear program was peaceful".

You should maybe consult better sources.

Answer the Q. A simple AI search confirms (in body of post),but let's ask the IAEA about now(link)

AI search result:

"IAEA's Position on Iran's Nuclear Facilities
Certification Status
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not certified that Iran has no undeclared nuclear facilities. Instead, the agency has indicated that Iran's cooperation with its inspections has been "less than satisfactory."

Ongoing Investigations
The IAEA is actively seeking explanations for traces of uranium found at several sites in Iran. This suggests that there are ongoing concerns regarding Iran's nuclear activities and the potential existence of undeclared facilities.

Summary of Findings
Aspect Details
Certification of Facilities Not certified as having no undeclared sites
Cooperation Level Less than satisfactory
Current Investigations Traces of uranium at multiple sites
The lack of certification and ongoing investigations highlight the complexities surrounding Iran's nuclear program and the IAEA's efforts to ensure compliance with international agreements."

The JCPOA "bargain" itself was laughable: Iran continues enrichment w sunset clauses on
centrifuges (10 yrs), enrichment levels (15yrs), and stockpiles (15yrs).
And they could steadily work toward their goal of nuclear weapons while technically being "in compliance".

Even with this, Iran's cooperation with the IAEA was "not ideal" such that the IAEA could not certify that they were in full compliance.

JCPOA ensured Iran a slow, steady path to nuclear weapons past Obama's term. It also funded them with their pallets of cash release of bank account funds frozen because of terrorist activity.

It is quite misleading to claim "they kept their end of the bargain". Why wouldn't they?!!! And yet STILL, they didn't which is why the IAEA could never certify them fully.

...I moved this post down here to keep the thread readable
