Hantavirus — What is your level of concern at this point?

What’s the boards view of the Hantavirus situation.

My wife is monitoring the news closely, and is very concerned. (Bordering on this is another COVID-19 type of situation.)

I’m less concerned, but then again I don’t have any control over it, so I’m not stressing. I suppose I could stock up on toilet paper and Clorox wipes.

Many of the official comments downplaying the situation are reminiscent of early Covid days.

What is your level of concern?

But, it is always prudent to take precautions when traveling. Be aware of your surroundings. Minimize exposure to risks.

And while it’s a totally different disease than COVID, I believe our health officials learned a lot and are better prepared. Not too concerned right now.

I was well prepared for Covid. I haven't given this one a second thought.

And the left is desperate for another manufactured crisis.

Agreed. A couple idiots went bird watching in a landfill and got back on a cruise ship.

Given your failure to answer, I assume you 1) haven't read your link, or 2) it doesn't have any information to aid you in setting your level of concern. Probably the former, but it very well could be the latter.

valid information on the risks related to Hantavirus...as always, when I post something from another source, I read it first...unlike your 'Bro', Baron, who got himself exposed twice for that kind of oversight, or laziness.

As for myself, I haven't spoken with our family Infectious Disease Specialist just yet, but I'm a) pleased to hear that the virus has a low level of transmission...unlike COVID-19...or God Forbid, Measles...and that the 'vector' for transmission is close contact with another person. On the other hand, b) there is no cure or vaccine for the disease, so if you are in marginal health...that's a big problem should you get infected. Also, as the Doctors in the article note, if the CDC doesn't rise to the occasion and make sure there is solid data tracking on cases all over the nation, a lot of people could end up in unnecessary visits to the ICU...or morgue. You can imagine my concern having a non-professional like RFK Jr. in charge of HHS.

There...feel better? ;-)

So, you are both not worried, and worried, but you are sure it will help you politically. Got it.

A question was asked. You posted in the thread, but didn't answer it. Typical. When asked to answer the original question, you get offended and strike out at another person to besmirch their good character...again, typical.

Alright, I'll break it down for you...with a properly staffed and funded HHS/CDC, Hantavirus should

not be a general public concern, since it doesn't possess the potential for a pandemic...unfortunately, our current HHS Agencies are NOT properly staffed or funded...as evidenced by all the DOGE cuts along with having a totally incompetent Director...RFK Jr....and thus far, the only expert information provided to the public about this disease is from the IDSA...not the CDC. People have questions...they need answers...but this administration is spending its time on infighting, rather than ensuring that our case tracking and data collection are being carefully monitored so that outbreaks don't occur...

Note that the incubation period for a new infection is anywhere from 1 to 7 weeks...and there is no cure or vaccine available. With an incompetent HHS/CDC, this low risk disease becomes a threat for many more people than it should.

btw, are you at all concerned with having RFK Jr. as head of HHS?

Thread Level: 7

Got it. You see Hantavirus as a political opportunity. Set up the attacks now, before the midterms.
