That's what the Euros thought when they saw the longships approaching over the horizon.

What do you "care" for and why?

And what is the point of stating that you do not care for something that others do?

Afterall, the list of things you do not care for must be infinite.

But I suppose a fair question you might ask me is why I care that you don't?

i just feel that you are missing out on a truly unique and beautiful event... I guess that I care for your enjoyment of something.

So, I recommend you give it a chance... it's like cultivating an interest in classical music or fine wines... the enjoyment is in following the mesmerizing, intricate, spontaneous organic team movements... like appreciating the interplay of different sounds and notes in a Mozart sonata or the subtle blend of red and black fruits, tobacco, mocha, and hints of spice in a high-end Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

AND, it doesn't involve professional franchises playing for shekels... IT INVOLVES NATIONS/CULTURES AT SUBLIMATED WAR with one another.

It's an athletic game of RISK.

If convenient, I recommend starting out with any game involving Spain, France or Brazil... and above all catch the Norwegians, who have a living Thor as their star.

Like Knute, I watched a tad beginning in 1970s, but not in earnest until 1998.

I became a big futbol fan about 8 years ago and follow Premier League closely.

Once we get a Round of 32 bracket, I will start a Board pool so we can have some fun.

We were in Scottish Highlands last month. Talking to a barkeep who is overjoyed that Scotland is in the tournament. All he wants is one World Cup match win, and he will be happy. Scotland play Haiti Saturday night @ 9:00 PM, 2:00 AM in Scotland. Barkeep says that any of his mates who record the game and go to bed "are dead to me."

I won't watch but I'll take a peek. We played soccer in 1960s Catholic grade school recess.

It always quickly turned into a kill the guy with the ball brawl.

In earnest? 1990 when U.S. was back in and Ireland was in as well.

Same again in 1994. Remember watching the Ireland matches with the Irish singer Tommy Makem at his bar on 57th Street in Manhattan at the time.

World Cup is the only soccer I watch. Enjoy the national passion.

I watched the Ireland/Italy game in a Manhattan bar and Ireland gave Italy all they could handle.

I'm a huge fan of the Selecao but the Brazilian anthem sucks.

Fun sport to play. Not so much to watch. Indoor soccer in the 80s was entertaining, though.
