In other words, paying to see a trainwreck?
Even as a trainwreck...his 3 month radio stint in 2006 was unlistenable...
singers to drown out his voice, and even has a group of chunky guys in back of him who don't sing, but just dance goofily, presumably to make the audience occasionally distracted from what Dave is doing. Roth once said something about Hagar to the effect of, "He throws a party, but I AM the party." Well, I've seen Hagar recently. While Roth could pass for being in his eighties, Hagar could pass for being in his fifties. Hagar can still sing and pretty much moves around like he always did. Oh, and his concerts sell 8,000-10,000 tickets, while whatever this thing Dave does is sometimes canceled due to low ticket sales.
Fans spend big money for a voice and stage presence from the 60s and 70s but instead get dyed hair and a Mr Burns with a guitar. Frankie Valli is the worst of the worse. Justin Hayward, last surviving member of the Moody Blues, is one of the few that has retained his voice and musicianship without using a ton of back up players on stage to support him. Just because an old rocker is touring doesn't mean it's worth the price oof admission.
