"Freedom requires constant vigilance' is an absolutely true axiom, and these voters have lost their vigilance. They will lose their freedom also.

Those who don't have anything don't care. (This is why the communist message plays well with many of the young since they have also been told that they "deserve" things without sacrifice along with the lie that "working hard won't get you anywhere"). But those who have nothing are also lied to that they will somehow get something from the communists. They will not. They will however lose the chance to ever gain something under communism (they will have their their hope taken from them).
This also plays well in urban areas with those who have a little, but have to exist under the onerous tax and regulation burden put upon them by (very ironically) the same people pushing the communism....liberal democrats who have had a monopoly death grip on the politics of their city for 5 to 6 decades.

Key to all of this is selling the "Trump is pure evil" canard.
After Trump, it will become "Vance is pure evil" or Rubio is pure evil", etc.
It is truly "[ FILLIN THE BLANK WITH CONSERVATIVE NOMINEE ] is pure evil."
Many liberal elites who are far less smart than they think they are fall for this - hook, line, and sinker.

Marxism doesn't cure the problem of the "Have Nots" however...it just makes nearly everyone a "Have Not". The "Haves" become those with government and party connections...as that becomes the only real "capital" in society.

Elevate yourself high enough in the party...and you might even get a confiscated Hamptons or Malibu home...

I know that you are not Catholic, but reading on that would be enlightening (I included a link & encourage that you read it).
But one does not need to be catholic to see communism for what it is.
It is to be feared as it is evil. It suppresses religion, freedom, opportunity, and hope.
