I'll be the first to agree not anyone should just walk over and say I'm a US citizen now. However, if you want to work and contribute to this country I'm all for it.

Are you worried about your job being taken away from you?

Lack of exposure to diverse cultures is a big factor. The lion's share of posters who fear immigrants live in a bubble. For whatever reason, they lack the confidence to disrupt their boring bubble.
Immigrants bring a work ethic, drive, and talent that our posters cannot match. So, these same posters gobble up all the fear mongering, to exclude immigrants from swimming in their pool.
Notice how those who oppose immigration are the same folks who love their firearms. Weak-minded fraidy cats.

Corporations want cheap labor while working class people want better wages and benefits. Unfettered immigration hurts the working class and poor people while benefiting corporation greed.
If corporations were required to pay immigrants at the same rate with benefits as citizens, it would dry up pretty quickly.
Those are literally the two things that will be around from now to the end of time.
