I would say we have done enough meddling in the internal affairs of the Ukraine and have antagonized Russia by our actions in moving NATO next to the Russian border, overthrowing the democratically elected Ukrainian government and taking the side of the wrong Ukrainian corrupt and incompetant kleptocrat.
Guess that would put my vote with Trump on this particular question.

I would have said Obama, because he is least likely to do anything in response. He has a history of drawing lines in the sand, and then doing nothing when the lines are crossed.
I think most here would agree that Clinton is more hawkish than Obama, so the choice between Obama and Clinton is easy for Putin.
I think most here would agree that Trump is more unpredictable the either Clinton and Obama, so again, the choice is easy for Putin (not Trump).
And yet, no one wants to pick Obama. I find that fascinating. I have to think that the Obama supporters are the ones who do not want to answer.

Putin will never invade Ukraine... although his troops could easily sweep across the country, they would soon find themselves the victims of a perpetual insurgency that would quickly drain away vital Russian resources. Putin's strategy is to weaken the Ukrainian government until it has no choice but to comply with Putin's demands.
and part of Russia not too long ago. There is existence of Ukrainian nationality. But, Ukrainian as well as Belarus and Russia, all claim Kievan Rus' as their cultural inheritance. And also, who understands modern Ukraine is a failed nation and will always be a failed nation if they don't remain neutral militarily and politically between Russia and the Western.
The only possibility that Putin invades Ukraine is if Russians in Ukraine face persecution or ethnic cleansing.
With a reasonable Russian govt that might be possible.
With Putin, not so sure.

in a coup in Kiev. I don't think Putin cares who's in the White House. He's been clear that if we continue to press for control of the Ukraine he will destroy the country. Like it or not, the Crimea was part of Russia but for a ceremonial gesture by Nikita Khrushchev in the 1950's. Furthermore, I don't see any President being able to garner the popular support needed to get into a war with Russia. I'm not sure it's wise to get into a showdown with another nuclear power.

Who wants a major guerrilla campaign and international economic sanctions? He would be really risking his regime.
But to answer your question, I doubt he'd care who was in Washington. That wouldn't decisively affect his calculation.
Several Ukranian broads.
