That should garner consensus for a voter bill, right?

caught. Why is it so hard to understand?

Do you just take it for granted that no one would lie?
How would the State verify they are telling the truth? One way is to have the voter provide proof. How do you propose the States verify that the "attestation" is truthful?

Illegal aliens try to keep a low profile, for obvious reasons. They are not going to try to vote - with a very low percentage of success - and risk being caught and deported.
Illegals do not vote. Common sense.

Not everyone has a passport or birth certificate.
Millions of women do not have the same name they were born with.
This bill is designed to decrease the number of people who can vote. That's it. It is a voter suppression bill, and everyone in Washington knows it.

According to Chris there are millions of people who don't have a birth certificate, but they vote. It's common sense, ya know.

Please make it make sense?
And it is easy to do.
Ergo, if it's done at a low frequency and it's caught, then massive voter fraud would've be like shooting fish in a barrel.
One of my customers, a dairy that processed raw milk, brought me in to solve their mystery of low cream yields. I determined, utilizing data, that during the pasteurization and separation process the homogenizer would over pressurize the cream line causing the cream to go to the drain. I tuned the PID loop and added an alarm that automatically shut down the system on overpressure. Saved them millions of dollars
The moral of the story is that data matters. You don't have any real, actual, verifiable data on voting and neither do I. But you don't want the data.

Ask folks who have done do for 20-30 years.
You cling to conspiracy theories like shit on stink.

Voting is not meant to be an obstacle course …. unless the party in power fears losing in a free and fair election.

Seriously, you did it. Who are the people who can't do these simple things that you are advocating for?
difficult. BTW, I recently moved and when I changed my mailing address my local supervisor of elections sent me mail to register my new address. My Thomas Massie comment above is harsh, but all of you who entertain this idea say some conspiracy theory and make the sane prove you wrong.

Though blue state voting rolls are suspicious at best, so far, illegals indicted are somewhat rare, but it happens Before you start your victory lap, even one single illegal vote cancels out a legal registered vote. It just might be yours.
