A Christian married couple host a home-improvement show on HGTV, one I have never watched before, but appears to be pretty popular. They are openly Christian. So what does a Buzzfeed reporter do? Research what church they go to and who their pastor is. Turns out (shockingly) he is against same-sex marriage. Reporter then posts a screed about how dare the Gaineses go to this church without even asking what their position on same-sex marriage is.
There is nothing newsworthy about the beliefs of a pastor of two hosts of an HGTV show.
Out yourself as a Christian and risk being railroaded by the media via personal destruction tactics.

There is a video out there alleging that he is autistic. Rosie O'Donnell even tweeted about it.

I think her lawyers put her up to it.
My wife loves that show, and loves the Gainses.
Her immediate reaction was not, "Uh oh. I hope HGTV doesn't fire them like they did the Benham Brothers."
Her immediate reaction was, "Oh boy, they made a big mistake this time, going after Chip and Joanna!"
Kind of funny.
The home improvement chick has conversations with God? Why is she wasting his time on retail space?
But it seems like a silly article that fits on a silly website. Your outrage is also silly.

If only they would learn to live with the same rampant hatred and violence from insecure heteros that all their predecessors did.
practices. Yet he is an elected Democratic leader who could potentially run the DNC. When can I look forward to your condemnation, or do you reserve that for Christians only?
I assume you didn't even try to look up Ellison's views on the topic?
See link, its pretty clear he's not anti-gay at all.
Also, not all Christians are anti-gay. But some are, and if their beliefs discriminate against others, they deserve to be called out for it.

It's ok to be a Muslim, but not a Christian. Muslims can hold sincere beliefs that gays should not marry, yeah! Christians, not so much.
Show me an article from Buzzfeed where they went into a mosque to explore the views of Obama's pastors or Keith Ellison's Imams and then railed against Obama and Ellison for worshiping under them. Surprise, there is none. However, Buzzfeed is more than happy to bully the hosts of an HGTV show because of their pastor. Horrific journalism, and why Trump won, and will continue to win.

They didn't get the opinion of the Fixer Upper couple.
Do they have a right to keep their opinion to themselves? Or, must they speak when spoken to by the gay lobby?
I look forward to DRO's and Chris's condemnation. When can I expect it?

...and saying what US policy should be are two different things.
It's OK for a church to teach whatever it wants....when it veers off into what policy should be (i.e., should gays legally be allowed to marry) then I have a problem with the church, Christian, Muslim, or otherwise.

are the GW deniers.
Baron and you better get yer shit together on that one.
And that is the issue here. Buzz Feed is saying that if a person's church condemns certain behavior, then the adherents of that church should not be allowed to make a living.

Wonder why they didn't go after her.
human nature that in the act of combating something, those people become the people that they were combating.
Or am I supposed to accept your stereotype that all gays are submissive, meek put-upon folk who all have reasonable sensibilities and love for others?
Step two: attack it!
Gay people have been an extremely oppressed minority throughout US history. If that doesn't explain some of the anger some hold, if you can't understand why some are willing to take actions that are a bit loony, then you truly have no heart. Or brain.
in the same way as other people.
Bigot.
So maybe we can forgive one or two. Maybe.
They're always the victim.
Wherever it was, did you see a lot of gay people pushing around heteros in your high school?
based on their sexual orientation and the fact that many were picked on in the past. You can't see gays as bullies even when they bully like any other group gaining the upper hand.
You further think that past transgressions against them by someone else gives them the right to transgress on someone different today.
Exactly how will this undo the past?
Jesus said to turn the other cheek...
In fact, I seem to recall stating as much to one of them.
It's been demonstrated in many studies. One of my favorites had subjects fill out a big questionnaire to determine the overall level of hostility toward homosexuals (there were dozens of questions, so it was not obvious what they were trying to measure). Then they showed these subjects all sorts of porn and measured their arousal.
There was a direct correlation between homophobia and getting aroused by hot man-on-man action.

I don't see demanding of equal treatment as "bullying".
By that logic MLK was a bully.

I think they are 2 separate entities. One is an internet tabloid. The other is an organized group lobbying for equal protection under the law.
Do you think that a church should lose it's tax free status if it refuses to marry gay people when it is against the long-held doctrine of their beliefs?
That said, if a specific church works vehemently against the rights of others based on their beliefs, then they should be called out for it.
Its one thing for them to not marry people. Its another for them to try and stop others that are unaffiliated with their church from marrying people.

You just hate people who don't believe what you believe. Andi use the term hate intentionally, because you are wishing ill toward this pastor.

You really think God would keep dudes out of Heaven if their only transgressions were doing each other up the chuter?
My God is infinitely more loving than that.
I would never presume to say that anyone person is in hell. Of course, neither would the Church.

their beliefs, "or else"?
Should they also pay for abortifascients against their doctrine "or else"?
If your answer is yes, then you are indeed a bully.
No one is going to make priests perform gay marriages. Calm down, and stick to railing against abortion.
All you did was say what "wasn't going to happen". Man up and tell me what you think.

...shameful bullying tactics.

is way out of bounds. That you support Buzzfeed here shows your character.
I have no sympathy for the typical bullshit Christian persecution complex. Gay people fight back for once and reactionaries everywhere are up-in-arms. Fuck them and their asshole misinterpretation of the bible.
