the necessary changes are going to be significant...a key question is...will we be leaders...or laggards?

You know, practical environmental stuff.

Whether Canada derives all of its energy from coal or moose farts, it makes absolutely no difference.
The ONLY country that matters is China. They are building / have plans to build hundreds of new coal-fired energy plants in the next few years. Others can look up the numbers, but they are staggering.
Yet they were widely feted as a signatory of the TOTAL FUCKING BULLSHIT Paris Climate Accord. Look how green China is! They really do care! But when we pulled back the covers, they only committed that their emissions would max out in 2030. Hurray! Long live Xi! Look how much China cares!
Climate idiots are the most moronic of all people.
many years ago...btw, Russia's nuclear program is moving ahead as well...in the meantime, China is striving to become the #1 economic force on this planet, so it comes as no surprise that they are also employing easily implemented coal power plants as well.
It sure would help if we'd all come together on an energy strategy that keeps us in the lead.
This is going to take some time...but we're in a global physical and political race and we shouldn't waste time debating the obvious actions that must be taken.

Spare me.. You really think they're going to ignore the 1.27 billion tons of shale oil they just discovered?
China's motivation is energy independence...not Climate Change.
even Baron's favorite biotech scientist, Dr. Ebright...clear you mind of that dead end.
As for energy independence, we are never...repeat never...going to be energy independent if we stay on the fossil fuel train...as BP repeatedly announces...global oil reserves are on the order of 53 years...not 53 decades...nor 53 centuries...you need to face reality...we're in trouble on multiple levels and time is not on our side...don't push on a rope.
I don't look at your links. Your schtick is beyond old.
Not convinced you aren't a parody account. If so, well done.
nuclear program is legit...they are a centrally run, autocratic country...nothing of that magnitude gets done on a whim...they can see the writing on the wall and are actually taking the needed steps.
Virtually all of us here on this board agree that nuclear power needs to be much more prevalent in our electrical grid...let's acknowledge that the Chinese are doing the right thing when it comes to that technology and urge our own representatives to get their rear ends moving in the right direction...can we agree on that?
You are a true useful idiot.
convey is that a transition from fossil fuels - while maintaining, or certainly, growing an economy - is a tricky business. China is very aggressive in it's goal to be #1 (e.g. Xi's "Belt & Road Initiative"), so they need lots of power and coal is a plentiful resource that's readily implemented...nonetheless, I suspect that they see the long term writing on the wall and are not relying solely on coal and thus are also aggressively implementing a nuclear power strategy (even 'Fast Breeder Reactor' development).
How much they care about Climate Change is debatable, but the fact that they are investing heavily in zero carbon emission nuclear power, shows us that you can "keep the plane flying" as you change engines in mid-flight.
My view for the U.S. is to 'husband' our fossil fuel resources as much as possible while we make our own transition...both for long term energy independence...and for honoring our role in meeting the real challenge of 'Climate Change'...while we pursue our own rightful goal of being #1...not just in economic terms, but in political philosophy (i.e. Democracy).
This isn't a 'Binary' issue...the goal should be quite clear...it's the HUGE challenge of how to make the shift that's so daunting....btw, we'll be using fossil fuels for a very long time...just not so much of them.

just deal with the substance of these matters (btw, Kyle has my name and can verify it if you want to ask him...for the grad status...not my name ;-)).
He long ago discredited himself.
“Here, argue these talking points, and give them these (partisan) links”.
The delays could be real life, but it has the feels of a paid Soros (or some group like his) type.
I only put effort in when I feel the energy which seems to be less and less now that everyone has figured him out.

Flint was just too poor to continue paying for Detroit water,,, but any idiot would have known the Flint river was unsuitable for use as drinking water... and any engineer should have known that if it were not treated for corrosion control the ancient pipes would begin leaching out the lead in their joints.
Gretch does have the shiniest forehead of any governor though. Could be the water.
