I retract my previous opposing position - this is indeed scarier than 9/11, Pearl Harbor, and Oklahoma City combined.

I get that all the simpletons on this Board can only measure damage by “shock ‘n awe” and the number of American lives lost, …. the same simpletons who were unmoved by 400k US COVID deaths in 2020 — #1 on the planet — USA! USA! USA!
The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor and the evil terrorist plot of 9/11 were indeed shocking and tragic blows to our peaceful and innocent quality of life, but both events galvanized our nation, evidenced by how our “best selves” united together in our response. Pearl Harbor awoke a “sleeping giant.” September 11th reinvigorated our greatness, beginning with the bravery of FDNY and so many other selfless and heroic citizens who responded.
January 6th was not an ambush. It was a frontal assault on our democracy, advertised and orchestrated for months by a sitting US President, enabled by cowardly and dishonest members of Congress. January 6th didn’t galvanize us. It exposed how broken and divided we have become as a people, and how broken and divided we remain as evidenced by this thread. Dishonesty, Cowardice, Delusion, Hate are now American’s “values.”
Democracy was our brand. Truth was our power. No one did it better than America. Then along came Trump. Then along came January 6th.
And we still cannot find our ass.
at you and say " how should I know" Its a big non event to everybody but whining pussies like you and you lib buddies. Grow up
many senior members who were aghast at what happened on Jan. 6th and want to purge the 'insurrectionists' from it...it'll take time, but as we learn more (e.g. the 6-Point Memo outlining the coup strategy), even hard-core Trumpists will begin to see the truth and turn their backs on him.

...what that means is the undoing of all the incredible work our Founding Fathers did to create this democratic republic...that's a very big thing...much bigger than one terrorist attack...
It isn't just "Those Guys", or "Libs", or "Dems"...it's true Americans who are aghast at what almost transpired...the sooner we get a critical mass of people to understand that, the sooner we'll start moving ahead like we used to...Conservatives, Liberals, Libertarians, Independents, Greenies, etc...debating, voting and making progress that benefits everyone...not just one person's unquenchable narcissistic ego.
worse event...but in terms of potential impact on the very foundations of what makes America the unique and shining example of democracy...Jan. 6th is orders of magnitude more consequential.
Consider it in terms of a combat engagement vs. a world war...again, my personal opinion...fire away, if you feel the need...but please take a moment to consider what I said...and what you have since seen/read about the insurrection and Donald Trump's (emerging) role in it....I value your opinion.
take over the country. 1/6 will soon be forgotten except when liberal media bring it up. 9/11 changed the world forever.
cast doubt on the outcome...then 'leave the rest to him (Trump) and other GOP Congressmen)'...the result would be chaos and fertile ground for all manner of unprecedented executive actions...all designed to keep him in the Presidency...that was what he wanted from those "hillbillies"...stop the process.
If you really, really care...get yourself a copy of the new Woodward book "Peril" and learn a lot more about what did, and continues to, happen.
but I wholeheartedly disagree that 1/6 was anywhere near that of 9/11. 9/11 changed how we live, how we travel, it cost America trillions of dollars, thousands of American lives. 1/6 was a shameful event, but not nearly as bad as the left considers it.
know, I' was born and raised for much of my youth in NYC...my dearest cousin still lives in Manhattan and for decades has been friends with the local Fire Station that lost the most men on 9/11...we've talked many times about them and our deep feelings for what they did and what their friends and families still go through...it's emotional for us. I've also made a point on this board of extolling ND grad, Jimmy Dunne, for what he did to care for the families of those lost in his firm on that day...I share your outrage and concern regarding 9/11.
Good job eagle eye! Just a simple man with simple needs Ty. I envy you!
etc...etc...etc...etc....hence, some 'selective editing' seems to have taken place.
You can probably get access to the indictments of the 600+ arrested "demonstrators" and learn how peaceful they were.
Was everyone there violent?...No...Was the majority violent?...No...Were a large number violent?...Yes...Did they almost throw the country into political chaos?...YES!...

it would not equal the the evil seen on that video and the destruction wrought and the permanent damage to democracy. The psychic damage of this holocaust will surely cripple several generations of countrymen.
