“A day in the Life of Sue the Trump supporter…
Sue gets up at 6 a.m. and fills her coffeepot with water to prepare her morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.
With her first swallow of coffee, she takes her daily medication. Her medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of her medications are paid for by her employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Sue gets it too.
She prepares her morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Sue's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the shower, Sue reaches for her shampoo. Her bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for her right to know what she was putting on her body and how much it contained.
Sue dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air she breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air.
She walks to the subway station for her government-subsidized ride to work. It saves her considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Sue begins her work day. She has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Sue's employer pays these standards because Sue's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Sue is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, she'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think she should lose her home because of her temporary misfortune.
It's noon and Sue needs to make a bank deposit so she can pay some bills. Sue's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Sue's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Sue has to pay her Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and her below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Sue and the government would be better off if she was educated and earned more money over her lifetime.
Sue is home from work. She plans to visit her father this evening at his farm home in the country. She gets in her car for the drive. Her car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards.
She arrives at her childhood home. Her generation was the third to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.
She is happy to see her father, who is now retired. Her father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Sue wouldn't have to.
Sue gets back in her car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that Republicans have FOUGHT AGAINST every protection and benefit Sue enjoys throughout her day.
Sue agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm self-made and believe everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."”
P.S. This 'parody' could go on a lot longer...and you know it.
Answer - no.
Liberalism and socialism suck.
yet, here we are...the wealthiest and most desired country on this planet for all those who believe in democracy and freedom...aren't you glad the "Socialists" won?
Look, as I've said before...it is natural and normal for the electorate to populate a spectrum of political thought...'Conservative' to 'Liberal'...I'll leave it to psychologists and sociologists to explain why...but it is what it is...and both have provided valuable support to the building of this nation...and not just it's structures and wealth. The parody shows that "Libs" have done their part as well in many different ways...btw, if I had written the parody, I'd have added a segment that had "Sue" taking her Down's Syndrome daughter to a 'Special Olympics" training session...a thoughtful and caring program created by a quintessential "Lib" family member...Eunice Kennedy Shriver...to me, that act embodies the spirit of 'Liberalism'...being aware of the needs of others..and doing something about it...not just 'thoughts and prayers'.

post calling for a more collaborative government process...something like the polar opposite of what Mitch McConnell has been practicing since Jan. 20, 2009.
prices? Everything she enjoys that the entitled receive is a benefit of cheap energy. Did you post yet that gasoline prices in Parts of CA are over $7 per gallon? Will Sue expect the government to cover her rising prices? Does Sue have children and grandchildren that will one day be submerged under her entitlement spending. Or do you believe liberals can just keep printing deficit capital forever.

very people who reflexively deplore the very thought of them...depend on them and would never give them up...so, it's self-defeating to allow such attitudes to persist...let's talk about what's needed for our citizens...how to make it happen...and yes, how to pay for it. We've done this before...successfully...let's get back to that same appreciation for "shared government".
I'm not shocked you were enchanted by it.
your impression of "Libs"...even if just slightly.
Medicare, more social programs on the way. Were is the money coming from? Did you like it during the Carter years when we had 17% interest rates? How did that work out?
So with an inflation rate at 5.4% and rising costs for almost everything and you want to champion more social programs?
If you took the 20 richest individuals in America and took all their money it would fund our deficit for a week. Then what?
Expand were the money’s coming from before you champion more government programs.
Progressive wing of the Dem Party won't get all they wanted, but that's how negotiations are expected to go...come in high, then settle for something 'acceptable'. As for the funding, it depends on the price and the palatable means...e.g. increased taxes on corps and the very wealthy...(but nowhere near the tax rates of the Eisenhower years). In my view, so long as the CBO is cool with it, I'm good...remember, this deal is for ten years, not one.
BTW, for what it's worth, a significant majority of the American public really likes those programs...just saying.

always of the traditional 'Capital' variety. Those earlier "Human Capital" investments I've mentioned IMO strengthened our country and bettered the lives of all citizens. I very much want to hear what the CBO has to say about the final version of the BBB Bill, but to reject it out of hand without debate, like the GOP is doing, is non-sensical and irresponsible for Public Servants.

And soon we'll hear the neighborhood lamented as a "food desert", and yet another sign of systemic racism.

shoplifting possibly be due to poverty in a super expensive living area?...could it be due to unemployment due to a global pandemic?...or any number of other factors?...please explain how you narrow the cause to some as yet unidentified "Liberal" policy.
Shoplifting was made a misdemeanor below $950. It has spawned a gigantic surge in this crime and has made Amazon the worlds largest fence for replacement razors.
Seriously?...That's it?

tax yourself.
When a city refuses to prosecute retail theft in amounts lower than $950…
…
…
You will have lots of retail theft in amounts lower than $950.
Companies like Walgreens and CVS and Target will close their stores in that city because it is too expensive to operate with these organized retail thievery crime gangs. People are smart, Ty. They respond to incentives.
Geddit?
carefully add up their "take" so it comes in under $950?...you say that there's no economic stress on someone from the Mission District of SF trying to live in one of the most expensive areas of the world?...where there's virtually no affordable housing within two hours drive for minimum wage people without high tech degrees?...that has zilch to do with their choice to shoplift?...and you think the misdemeanor bar is the determining factor?...Really?
Don't YOU 'Get It?'.
invent, manufacture, warehouse, distribute, and retail the items to her. They do this without instructions from the government.
Happily for the army of bureaucrats employed in the once-great state of California, the 9.5% sales tax she paid (after already paying her 12.3% state income tax) pays for an awful lot of AFSCME time-wasters. In a way, she can thank these people for some innovations that make her walk to work easier. She isn't stepping in human feces because she uses one of the four apps that track this waste in the city of San Francisco. These apps were developed by private companies to fill in a niche created by the gross incompetence of the one-party government. Necessity is the mother of invention!
Poising and maiming people is bad for business.

And protect its citizens. No problems there.

Regulation will always be needed. But when we start to stray into areas of a social nature that chip away at our judeo-Christian center right foundation, you'll find resistance. Those are best left to state and local folks. Don't impose your San Francisco values on people who don't approve of gay marriage, for instance. Stuff like that has no impact on the health and safety of citizens. Guarantee equal opportunity don't try and regulate equal outcome.
Bill, yet the GOP Senate won't even discuss it. Those softer "Human Capital" issues are IMO worthy of some discussion...just like Social Security, Medicare, etc...which even today's Republicans need and appreciate...in spite of their forebears' aggressive opposition...that's just wrong, counter-productive and self-defeating...even GOPers would benefit greatly from those BBB programs...the means of payment are the only real issues and they absolutely can be established.
BTW, the USA is a "Pluralistic Society"...as much as you and I strive to live out our own faith, others (e.g. Muslim, Hindu, Agnostic or even Athiest) have rights as well...so, go easy on the "Judeo-Christian rhetoric...our Constitution is specifically designed not to permit such discrimination...you should know that...just live by example...not 'fiat'.
But we're a Christian country. That's not rhetoric. Nor is it controversial. Dems da facts. It's one of the institution many on the left seek to destroy.
longer that misperception hangs around, the longer it's going to take for us to come together. There is no way our God in Heaven looks down at this 'speck' in His universe and says "You know, those Christian folk have some really nice beliefs, songs and rituals...the rest of humanity can take a hike...I'm not listening.
Our Forefathers, thankfully, did NOT put the words "Christian Country" in the Constitution...it's called "Religious FREEDOM"...FOR ALL FAITHS!
Everyone is free to worship, or not, as they see fit. Changes nothing of what I said. I can see why you found a home in frisco.
you take back nothing you said...how do you square it with your acknowledgement that our FoundingFathers did NOT establish a state religion?...Has there been a "Religious Coup" that I haven't heard of yet? Even though the FoundingFathers happened to be predominantly 'Christian' they had the wisdom to only refer to "God" in their writings...not "Christ"...even then, our laws ensure equal rights for those who do not believe in a God...that is vitally important to our success.
Believe me...I'm fully aware of the mentality you and many others espouse...it's wrong...it's divisive...and it's Un-American. It leads to discrimination and exclusion...as well as 'Chaos"...I say that because I'm also well aware of the incredible range of "Christian Faiths"...almost innumerable Christian Churches...Liberal and Conservative Catholics, etc., etc....what does it really mean to be "Christian"?...You know as well as I there will never be unanimity on that score.
We have many outstanding Americans in positions of responsibility and authority who are performing admirably...without being Christian...because they believe fervently in our Constitution, freedom for all, and accountability to our laws...at the same time, we have many self-proclaimed "Christians" who defy the basic tenets of that Constitution...religious affiliation is not a determining factor.
BTW, you'll find my sentiments in every part of this country...not just the Bay Area...probably even in Portland, Salem, Eugene, or Beaverton...knock yourself out trying to convince all of them of your viewpoint.
Did you get it all up?
I had no idea that you'd be so 'dogmatic' when it came to imposing your faith/value system on the entire country. Hopefully, I misunderstood you and that you were just speaking for how you choose to live your life...which is laudable...and that you'd have no problem whatsoever in voting for a Muslim, Jew, Hindu, or even Agnostic President, so long as they had a strong record of success in public service and adherence to our Constitution.
But it was kinda fun to watch you rant and rave.
Does Sue know her employer is a risk taker, built this business and created her job opportunity?
You'd better lecture those kids on highschool forum, not uhnd board. It's really childish, to be honest to say.
Americans would not be met...one very visible example is the "Fair Labor Standards Act (1938)" passed during FDRs tenure...that made sure that the workers employed by those "Risk Takers" you speak of, had limits on what they could 'demand' of them...e.g. a 40 hr work week that allowed them time with their families...time for personal enjoyment/fulfillment...and even coaching their kids sports teams....again, this concept was vigorously opposed by industry and conservatives.
If you want to knock yourself out on the debt issue...read the linked article...then start a different post of your own.

Mentioning affordability of car made by auto businesses (a great and proud achievement In modern history)....
A quarter of truth is not truth of whole game. That's my point.
reply...perceived 'intrusions' by Liberals are very often un-perceived benefits for those same people...As for the industrialist...and I was one of them, running my own product line...I know all about costs, competition, market share, etc....there are social responsibilities that must also be attended to, and sometimes, in the heat of 'Capitalistic Battle' shall we say, some things get lost in the pursuit of "shareholder value"...that's when government needs to "Intrude"...sadly, it often falls to the "Libs" to make it happen...Let's work together.

of the government programs and regulations have been shown to be not only effective improvements in the lives of ALL Americans, but dare I say..."Expected" by all?
Your thoughts on the content of my post...please.
(no message)
the accuracy and clarity of its underlying message..."Liberals" are grossly mis-cast as intrusive and counter-productive to the lives of American citizens...the examples depicted prove otherwise.
Now...can we begin to discuss the CONTENT of the post?
Is it your contention that all of the good aforementioned programs and policies were the result of only liberal democratic thinking and drive? There was no bi partisan agreement, consensus, buy-in, cooperation etc. of any of these. Clean air, clean water healthy food yardda yadda yadda.... These were all the brain children of good hearted libs and were thwarted at every turn by evil white republicans? Lame.
These are not the mis-cast intrusive counter productive ideals conservatives bark about. You understand this of course? You understand that San Francisco isn't Dubuque.
between Democrats and Republicans as evidenced by the creation of the EPA under Nixon...but today there is a steady drumbeat by - you have to admit this - Republicans that any and all programs proffered by Democrats are to be viewed as "Dead On Arrival"...the product of mis-guided 'Socialists' who are bent on destroying the country...when in actually, numerous Democratic programs in the past (see the parody) have now become engrained, accepted, and even demanded by conservatives and liberals alike...the GOP right now won't even consider debating any of the "Build Back Better" programs...this mindset needs to change...that's why I posted the parody.
You appear to appreciate the value of collaboration between the two parties...sadly, there are millions of "Sue's" out there...and Mitch McConnells...who don't.
You are brain dead if you believe anything that you posted, and nuts like you are the reason the country is at where it is politically today. Well done.
and you want a bigger government.
now, by ALL Americans...there will always be debates on the 'Necessity' and 'Economic Value' of any proposed program...and there should be...however, the record shows that the Republican Party has failed to attend to the many basic needs of this country's citizens...regardless of which party they belong to...
"Liberals", thus far, have been the ones who are attentive...it's time for BOTH sides to champion "Good Government", rather than "No Government"...if you disagree with that premise, then start calling for a dismantling of Social Security, FDIC, FDA, EPA, Unemployment Insurance, Workers Compensation, Farmers Home Administration, TVA, SEC, SBA,........let us know how many 'converts' you are able to gather up.
considered liberal or even radical concepts in their day, and fought hard against by conservatives. And he’s right. Doesn’t mean that all of the BS the libs want is good or affordable. It does mean that the simpleton Neanderthal thinking that libs always weak and wrong, while MAGA always strong and right is a moronic concept.
