...why was it loaded (a blank should not reach that far off set)?
...if it was a blank that was fired close range (which can kill someone as was the case with Brandon Lee), why was it pointed at someone, and why at a non actor?
...why was it pointed & actually fired at someone at all since it is never necessary to do that, even in movies.
Quite sadly and ironically, the training given and promoted by the NRA would have prevented this whole thing.
terrible, he broke the number one rule of gun
safety, never point a gun at someone unless you are willing to shoot. This smells, he's in deep crap
If so the always mild tempered even keeled Baldwin probably picked up the prop gun, and in a fit, fired it. Would explain why it wasn't pointed at a fellow actor but the director.
It's a terrible shame but he's a garbage person. Just another wannabe NYC tough guy. Find them on every avenue and softball field in that god forsaken part of the country.

the movie set. Brilliant.
NYTimes - “ The assistant director of the western film “Rust” grabbed a prop pistol from a gray cart and handed it to the movie’s star, Alec Baldwin, shouting “cold gun!” — which was supposed to indicate that it did not contain any live rounds, and was safe to handle around the crew huddled by the camera.
But the weapon fired when Mr. Baldwin pulled the trigger a few minutes later, discharging a live projectile that hit the director, Joel Souza, in the shoulder and struck the director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, in the chest, killing her.
The first official account of the killing, which has rocked the entertainment industry and raised questions about workplace safety issues in film productions, was released late Friday in an affidavit filed by the Santa Fe County sheriff’s department seeking to search the rustic wooden building where the shooting happened.”
To claim that you know some one "from around town" is demonstrably stupid. People who would do something of that nature surely have self esteem issues based on a lifetime of failure. Probably tell tales about education and hope for death to befall others. Sick people really. In need of therapy and medication.
No, my comment was pure speculation based on his rather public violent reactions to others when he feels wronged. Again seems to be a byproduct of some residents of NYC. Self absorbed pseudo intellectuals humorless sewer rats who's self inflated opinion of themselves vastly exceeds their overall importance to society.

metal projectile than a paper wad or a blank. The autopsy should be interesting.
