In this case, the apparent phenomenon of black folks not wanting to come back to work or arriving late is attributable not to the common factors that typically explain this phenomenon for members of all racial/ethnic groups, but is instead attributable to things like comments or looks interpreted to be mean, though rarely verified, and to perceptions of danger that fly in the face of all supportable data in existence, which demonstrate that they are exponentially safer today than decades ago. These things all go out the window as guilt-ridden people with credentials attempt to avoid the uncomfortable reality.

Responsibilities.Can’t get to work on time and it is racist to expect employees to be punctual or show up at all.Deputy Superintendent for many years in NYC and so many employees just couldn’t handle basic employee responsibility,forget going above and beyond.

Everything has to be about race. But it isn't. My white workers don't want to return to workplace.
People are used to working from home. They are using every possible loophole against the company to prevent me from getting them back to the office.
Employee: "Page 32, second paragraph, bullet 4 of the Covid Office Procedures Bulletin [[I work for a big company]] says you were supposed to do X when we were in Phase I. Now you say we are in Phase III, and ready to return to the office. But, we have to return to Phase I now so we can do that bullet correctly, so we can be safe at work."
Me: "Go ahead and make that argument to management. Let's see how it goes. You can let me know if you are also back in the office when everyone else is."
Some want a safe work place. I am trying to accommodate them, even if I think they are being ridiculous. If I can do something for them to address their irrational fears without spending an outrageous sum, I will, even if I think the request is baseless...if I think they are honestly concerned about covid. But, some could care less about covid safety, and they just want to keep working from home, so they will use any argument they can to sabotage the return to the workplace.
I would think "racial discomfort" would be just as valid a reason to work from home as "covid discomfort." But, they need a note from a doctor. So, "racial discomfort" will probably soon be a medical condition.
This is what happens when one works for an international conglomerate. Just outsource their jobs to
