communist policies being pushed by the far left. If anything, last night should alert the GOP that Trump should not be running in 2024.
The tragedy of the G.O.P. is that too few conservatives had the nerve to fight the enemy within. Voters penalized the party in 2018 by losing the House, and in 2020 by losing the presidency.
The tragedy of the Democratic Party may yet be its own loss of nerve against its in-house extremists. Whether it’s this week or next year, the political penalties are likely to be steep.

A First Past The Post voting system guarantees that most voters vote against their most hated candidate more than they are voting for the candidate of their choice. Most often, the preferred candidate is not even on the ballot for a substantial majority. That is our system...and as crappy as it is at times, it is not worse than authoritarianism.
Sure, we like to pretend that 100% of voters either love the Dem candidate or love the GOP candidate, but that is never the case...and I would argue that not since George Washington has there been an instance when a majority of voters would say their favored candidate is on the ballot. Maybe FDR.

Don’t
The election in VA and NJ were MUCH more about local issues then Biden, AOC, Trump, etc. Youngkin still lost Loudon County where most of the culture war stuff was being driven. However a lot of parents who are already pissed at school closings, mask mandates, supposed CRT flipped to vote for Youngkin.
I do agree with Frank this county is more center, although I say center left. Weed is being legalized, gay marriage is normalized, etc. Dems will be idiot if they continue to push defund the police, woke socialist agenda.
However I do believe paid family leave, free 2 years of community college are NOT "socialist" "Marxist" ideas.
joke. Watch how expensive "free college" becomes once it's free. There are many ways to tackle college, but making it free is not one of them.

l provide no economic benefit for themselves or society. Questions you should be asking yourself:
1) why do so many people want to emigrate to the US
2) why does the US have such a large % of the global economy vs its share of population
3) why is Silicon Valley the epicenter for technological advancements
4) why do kids take out huge loans to get degrees in areas of study that only will provide a negative rate of return
When you guarantee everyone a sandwich...everyone will get a crap sandwich...and you will have achieved your equity.

Stop with the strawman.

So dishonest. He also mentioned “little shit countries” which wasn’t the Soviet Union. As usual you left out the key word.
That is the very essence of this discussion, which you are trying to distract everyone from seeing.
And why do you do this?...because you support socialism? That would be a good reason to post as you do.
Nope. Not you. You do it because you are a board troll.
No one has been more dishonest than you, which I have pointed out and everyone has seen. That hurt you, so you continue to bite at my ankles to try to raise yourself back up a notch by accusing me of that which you do. Kind of embarrassing, really. Go ahead, though. I'm sure you can make one more attempt at getting a troll-post-induced dopamine hit. As for me, I don't actually enjoy trolls, so I will let you have the last word.
You know damn well he isn’t talking about anything like that and the nations that have this benefit have hardly turned into it.
Just a dishonest, inflammatory argument which you are famous for.
You are always over sensitive when you get called out for these ridiculous statements that you make, and you start whining, projecting, and name calling. If you don’t like my posts you have an easy solution to plug your ears and stick your head in the sand. Use it, no skin off me. I will still express my opinions on your nonsense.
They do it by restricting who can go.
Maybe we should do that, too.
I mean, letting everyone go and give it a shot in college is the American way, but it does put a lot of stupid people into debt. But making it free and letting everyone go would be a tremendous waste of national resources. And, I assume you agree that if we restricted college, we would likely block people on the basis of race, not on the basis of aptitude like the "shit countries" do.
win without Orange. It shows the D’s and especially the woke D’s that the country is tired of their BS. Maybe they will end the circular firing squad and pass infrastructure now?
or socialist nation. We are a center right nation. More Manchin than Bernie. This climate change, nanny state, woke BS will bury the D’s.
because Trump was an ass. I guess I'd rather put up with his personality for 4 more years than a lifetime of crap the democrats want to push down our throats.
unstable, unfit threat to the nation which he proved to be after the election. He needs to just go away. Instead he’s still spreading his stolen election, Israel literally owned Congress crappy.
Most unbot like people look at the candidates. All things being equal, I will always take the more conservative of the two even if I don’t totally agree with the person. All things were not equal with Orange.
ck & Nancy can't stop moving left. Where I will say you miss the point is that you put too much stock in the President. It's the other chambers, as well. Putting so much power in Biden's hands is concerning. Now, if you think Mitch is unstable, then you may have a point. I don't see him as such.
If you want to say they are incompetent that’s one thing. They aren’t a threat to the nation like Orange was. If you think they are, don’t vote for them. Orange has already proven that he is and he’s still spreading his lies while running again.
And McConnell did nothing to stop the efforts to overturn the election.
Our founders put in enough checks and balances to stop that sort of coup. I was never worried Trump was going to take over the country.
The guiderails held….this time. It would have only taken Pence or Raffensburger for them not to have held. The man is and was a threat to the nation. No one else in national politics comes close. Yet the morons who run your party fear his base so much they will nominate him again, despite other conservative alternatives that aren’t a threat like him. Cowards.
P.S. You think Youngkin wins if he had embraced Orange?
ideas less than I supported Trump.

….and Trumps candidate won. Further, McCauliffe tied You gain to Trump with every single breath.
The scoreboard says Trump won. The TDS crowd is trying to spin it later.
I would like to see DeSantis, but Trump will beat Dementia Joe or Kamala in a rematch assuming a fair election this time with previous voting laws reinstated. If those laws are not changed, then it won’t matter anyways.

I still don't believe he will be the candidate in 2024.
(no message)
I just can't see us looking at this as the optimal strategy. Of course, I'm also the same guy that kept expecting him to fall off the primary list 5 years ago.
He’s up at least 30 points.
He is running, and the only thing that could stop him is his health - and that seems fine as of now.
Any 78 year old President we ever have again should be at the very end of his second term.
We sure don't need a 35 year old president either.
When the constitution was drafted, life expectancy from birth was 38. That is an average, from birth, so many survived well beyond that age if they survived the first 15 years of their life...and if they did, it meant they had a lifetime of experience with life and death, and working to survive...all the time interacting with people, starting in their early teens, or even earlier. Back then, George Washington was surveying Fort Pitt at age 16, and most kids worked jobs before then, so people matured much sooner, and married earlier, and raised families earlier, and attended dozens of funerals...totally unsheltered. Surviving past 35 was a far better proxy for experience than it is now.
The president should probably be age 50 at minimum, but even 45 would be a serious improvement.

...but I assume you know this and are trying to score a point, even when it is a false point. if you don't know this, I'm scared.

I’d love to see the GOP nominate someone else. DeSantis and Pence are not threats to the republic.
I’d disagree with them, but they would be normal disagreements.
I think he's a good statesman. But he's not, in my opinion, the kind of leader that a nation like ours needs.
Haley, DeSantis, Cruz, Stefanik, Crenshaw - sign me up for any of that group.
You heard it here first.

I think Nikki Haley's a reasonable gal. Measured, sharp, persuasive, credible. I don't look at her like a Trump.
And while I know you don't agree with Cruz's politics, I'm surprised you'd liken him to Trump. Again, to me, different personality, different image.
