down Michigan pipeline.

They have a pavlovian response to any fossil fuel - MUST KILL IT! I suppose they prefer that fossil fuels be transported via rail and truck instead of pipelines, obviously much 'dirtier', and more costly, methods.
Fossil fuels will be our predominate energy source for decades to come. Limiting their availability will only drive prices higher and erode living standards.
Total fucking idiots, and Joe just does what they tell him to.

reading and number crunching, I'm 100% converted...and you can feel free to call me whatever you please...not like that hasn't happened already ;-). I've attached what I consider an excellent (and free) book on the subject "Sustainable Energy, Without The Hot Air", by David J.C. MacKay...you may recall I've done that more than once before. In the early part Dr. MacKay gives his rationale(s) for getting on board with CC...there's a lot to digest...I'd suggest you and others bookmark it for reference at your convenience...but for the moment, go straight to the "Motivations" section to understand why CC is real.
Getting unanimity on this issue is highly unlikely, but leadership will have to navigate a path to the future in spite of those who can't or won't understand what's happening. You are correct in that fossil fuels will be prevalent in any transition plan (e.g. jet transport...plastics products...etc.), but it's abundantly clear that some changes will be coming fairly quickly...e.g. many more EVs and lots of new charging stations. That demand surge will need to be followed with "Supply" solutions (Electrical Power Generation) that will not be fossil fuel based...in the short term, it's fairly easy to install wind and solar facilities that won't have to be highly reliable, but before too long (I"m guessing, 10 years) we'll need to be breaking ground on new Gen-IV reactors (including "Re-cycling" for current waste in storage).
That's enough for the moment, but these changes are indeed coming...best to adapt as quickly as possible.

You are the master of deflection.
Please explain how cancelling this pipeline advances the green agenda.
the "Line 5" closure issue in Michigan. The "Enbridge Pipeline" is a huge ENVIRONMENTAL issue...NOT a CLIMATE CHANGE issue.
I should have posted the attached link and the one below earlier, but to my chagrin, I took your bait on CC.

I will grant you that the CC issue can find its way into any major fossil fuel usage issue nowadays, but the crux of this one is overwhelmingly "Environmental". Quite frankly, it looks like YOU are the one with the "AGENDA" blindfold on.
BTW, as a fellow "Emil T ROCKS!" T-Shirt wearer, this sort of dialogue is distressing...can we just imagine ourselves having a beer at the off-campus Senior Bar once in awhile?

ROI’s. No one except politicians buy the new clean energy jobs that they expect. The whole concept of clean energy is to make more or equivalent to current fossil fuel activities or why bother. It’s about the money. Nothing more.
to have to adapt...as difficult as that may be.
The ranks of both swell with morons.
because they are so emotional. The knee jerk reaction among them is unmatched.

Planning and coordinating all the various new energy systems is going to be tons of "Fun"...and a great opportunity for those who embrace it.

I feel that the tide has turned in favor of nuclear.
It is far far safer than it was just a decade ago.
The crazies may believe we can run a modern society on the sun and wind, but no reasonably informed individual buys that crap.
Plus, there are federal laws governing its use and the Courts will defer to that authority.

Next we win Georgia and then we change America. It's all making sense now.
