…..how was it that this man, Brian Kelly (who has now been fully revealed as the person he is) was inflicted upon our student athletes for 12 years?

This question is addressed to Mr. Swarbrick.

at this a little less passionately...ND's football program was is deep trouble back when Jack Swarbrick took over from Kevin White...he hired Kelly to much fanfare and in return Kelly slowly built the program up to where we are now contending for the National Championship playoffs...not too bad, but for a program with a history of excellence, we seek nothing less than those NCs. Kelly reached his zenith and we all have our opinions on why, but the fact of the matter is, our program is much better off, as Jack mentioned in his presser...let's leave it at that and cheer on what appears to be a talented coach and good man...Marcus Freeman.

BTW, given that this is the Open Forum...listening to you vent your moral indignation on Brian Kelly and even Jack Swarbrick is almost too much to stomach, when in a soon to follow posting, you'll be extolling the blessings that Donald Trump has bestowed on this country...to say that's a "head-scratcher" is a galactic understatement.

besides, Baron has a history of engaging in politics on the "Footie", so be sure to caution him about mixing media ;-)

More importantly, Baron has a habit of moralizing at the drop of a hat about nearly everything...e.g. telling us how Brian Kelly was "Inflicted" upon our student athletes by Jack Swarbrick. Maybe it's just me, but this kind of rant is a bit over-the-top and REALLY hard to swallow, when he can't seem to find the words to utter even the slightest rebuke of a man who a) slept with a porn star while his wife was nursing their newborn son...b) had his charitable foundation shuttered for fraudulent use of funds for personal benefit...c) had his "University" closed and forced to remit tuition to "students" due again to fraud...d) went bankrupt six times, leaving his creditors unpaid...etc., etc., etc....NOT ONE WORD of outrage...but Brian Kelly leaving as he came and restoring the football program to consistent 10-12 win seasons is an offense that must be condemned.

Thanks for the opportunity to further explain my point.

In time, they’ll see Jack for The Devil that he is, just as they have with Mr. Limitless Love.

Jack hired, enabled and encouraged Bayou Boy every step of the way.

I wasn't one. While recognizing that he was at least a competent head coach...when measured against the three incompetents that preceded him...I tired of his act and have wanted him gone for some time. Recognize that every coaching change bears the risk of failure...but it wasn't worth putting up with Kelly's act to watch him fail spectacularly every time...even in his best years.

Not the biggest deal...but never thought he should be given the opportunity to pass Rockne only because we'll have to hear it forever now...

Kelly was largely successful at Notre Dame and seemingly knew that so long as his teams fared better than his predecessors, he was in good standing. And that's what happened during his tenure.

Kelly appears to be calculated in building his coaching resume, accepting jobs at underachieving programs, knowing he can improve the program on his watch. Taking the job at LSU (6-6 this season) for a ton of quid, and knowing he can get them to 9-3 or 10-2 in short order, is exactly the low hanging fruit that Kelly has always sought. [Whether winning 85% of the time at LSU will be good enough is another question, but I don't think Kelly cares. He has now made bank.]

Is there any doubt that once Kelly checked the box of surpassing Rockne in wins, that is was time for Kelly to move on to greener pastures, and check another "I improved an underachieving program" box. And, although Kelly knows that "I'm here to win a national championship" is the correct messaging, I am not sold that he has ever meant it.

Kelly found a nice sweet spot in his career -- improving above average programs to a Top 10/ Top 5 caliber program -- and knowing that would be good enough.

better measure of him..but there were plenty who wanted him to stay.

Kelly has revealed himself many many times. "Get used to it." Taking a pro interview prior to the BCS championship game. When he was given a raise and extension in January 2016 and then basically quit on the season later that same year, it was an announcement to everyone just who he was.
