Manchin kills BBB?

Wonder if this is just a negotiating tactic, or if he is really done.

If he is done, then you’d have to say that the progressives had a point about separating the bills…

The Dems have to pass SOMETHING.

Perhaps they'll get smart and push through the most popular items on their bases' wish lists one by one.

I was under the impression that bite-size portions in lawmaking were scuttled by reconciliation.

You have to wrap as much as possible into monstrous bills because you only have a couple chances in the reconciliation process. I’m not sure if that is an accurate take.

I agree with you that it would be better to break these things up into more digestible pieces.

Thread Level: 4

Reconciliation is unnecessary for bipartisan bills.

There are items that the two parties could agree upon but the Dems wanted to squeeze through stuff that could never pass on its own merits.

PS-No reason to downvote this great, great news.

Do you feel that "the science has changed" so to speak on pushing forward with this bill? I am obviously against it.

Thread Level: 3

I am not worried about inflation. Neither is the Fed, neither are the markets.

That assessment might change next year. But for now, not worried.

As is that of a permanent Democrat majority as Latinos are flipping fast. They did not flee the horrors of central government control of society to support it in their new homeland.
