It was Kelly's (sp?) job to keep track of WH staff. If people are screwing up, they can be counseled, asked to change and ultimately fired if they are causing harm to the country or the administration. I do believe Trump had no idea Kelly gave her the boot. On KPCC the other day a media professor indicated there were numerous reports of Amorosa taking advantage of perks, staff, etc.,.and acting strangely.
Once fired she began her tape campaign and statements re Trump which may or may not be true.
All Trump had to do was rise above it, stay out of it and let her self destruct. Act like the President of the United States. A few lines of sympathy maybe, "I understand why Ms. Amorosa is upset; she was in an important position. I wish her well in her new endeavors." Leave it at that. But no, he's got to act like a bozo, give her credibility, respond in kind, call her a dog. This is the POTUS for goodness sake-act like it.
But, he can't because he is so insecure, afraid people will think he's weak. His backers will say, "He's tough, he's fighting back." It shows how small they are. They believe a president should be involved in a twitter war with a woman who would have soon lost her grip.
Trump has lowered the prestige of the office, lowered our standing throughout the world.

I cannot believe he ever had the poor judgment to hire her in the first place, or to keep her anywhere near him. Her personality pathology is obvious. I doubt that she has ever met a person who has known her long term who has not regretted having known her if. Her personal interactions with others ALWAYS ends badly.
I said this back when Trump hired her, so this scandal is really not at all a surprise.
Amorosa reflects badly on Trump's judgment. I understand that he wanted to have a black woman in his posse because of the politics, but she wasn't worth the price.
Now, I don't agree with your other comment about losing prestige in the eyes of the world. First, only a liberal would care about what the Euro's think of us (will France think that these pants make us look fat?). Second, it isn't worth giving the Euros the farm so that they will like us - you can't buy friends. Third, our status in the world is still at the top because the biggest economy and military is king - so if anything, we are moreso. yeah, trump is a social oaf, but other countries know now that the free rides, and self deprecation policies are a thing of the past.
There isn't one of those Euro countries that wouldn't trade places with the US they could.
Something to the effect of "Releasing your Inner Bitch"
She is a full up whack job....Trump is stupid for getting in a pissing contest with her
But that's who he is
The Democratcs can't stand it
Four more years is looking more likely each day
Especially as the Democrats continue to become more unhinged
People may say they don't care how they look, or what others think, but liberals and conservatives alike do not want to be thought of as buffoons. When Trump lowers himself to calling people dogs, etc., it give credence to those who homogenize it into other areas. " He's a fool, he acts like a clown and does not have the judgement to be an international player and thus gets played by Putin" which, sadly, appeared all to accurate.
Given that Putin has been in office for a long time given the nature of his dictatorship, whereas we change leaders frequently enough the real experience is only achieved later in the second term, he will always hold an innate advantage ovr any US president. But, I am not sure why you think Putin has "played" Trump when nothing significant has yet happened other than the US has been crackng down on them. Trump just pressed EU head Juncker to change over to US produced LNG in place of Russian LNG in order to head of a trade war. Trump is upgrading our military and updating our badly neglected nuclear arsenal as well. Trump also slapped down Syria (and thus Russia) very quickly as well.
This is all a perception of the liberal left. I do agree that since much of Europe is liberal and socialist, they probably see it the same way as you do, but that is only because they will see anything from a conservative US leader in this light.
I'm sorry if this hurts George Clooney's dinner conversations when he visits Monaco, but I don't really care.
I do agree that trump should have taken the high road. But then again, Trump never would have won election, nor survived the withering MSM attack, nor weathered the machinations of the Deep State IC trap that was set for him had he been the kind of guy that did that. Pig or not, he is the right guy for this task.
I"m not sure why when Trump is accurately criticized people revert back to HRC and Obama. The Red Line was a joke which cost Obama and the USA dearly in terms of credibility and standing. Also, when dems in Wisc. talked of recalling Scott Walker Obama indicated he'd have to get some "comfortable shoes" so he could walk along with the supporters of the recall. This energized the recallers who went into action and started the recall. They called Obama's people and asked him to show up, keep his word, literally, walk the walk. He never showed up, he dodged and weaved and left them hanging-more political bullshit.
Anyway, Obama is not president, he's not dog calling, he's irrelevent. The discussion was about our current president and how he looks like a fool. Obama's misdeeds do not give Trump any type of absolution.
...you said that when Trump tweets stupid crap it makes him look incapable of handling major situations internationally to other countries (true - though I don't care much as long as it doesn't prove to be true). You also said that the perception he creates is that he isn't an international player and that the perception is that he is getting played by Putin.....and that this "appeared to be accurate". What examples make you think that these international perceptions are accurate?
You're right about BO's mistakes not being an excuse for Trump. perhaps i am forgetting something that you are thinking about.
