The Atlantic writer Benjamin Mazer's urging contrasts with health officials telling families to test everyone before gathering.

about doing this? You know, the one whose friends were amazingly just the specialties to give his uneducated comments the gravitas that he lacks? You'll have to keep me posted as I don't read such drivel anymore.
Privileged liberals are always the first in the lifeboat. They also line up for their 3rd shot (boosters) when most of the poor in the world haven't even received their first dose of protection.
you or curse you or deny any declarative statement you make about yourself or your relations...what more do you want?
As for my own declarative statements regarding members of my extended family, those Docs are indeed Infectious Disease and Pulmonary/Critical Care (i.e. ICU for those unaware) Specialists.
Also, there was no "Bragging" involved when I listed the 'requirements' for all attendees at our Christmas gathering...just the common 'rules' that medical professionals are using as we speak (ref: my UCSF 'Grand Rounds' video)...the only intent for posting was to share a "Best Practice" for the benefit of all board members during this very challenging time in the pandemic (i.e. HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS Omicron Variant).
Finally, the Biden administration is sending enormous amounts of vaccine to the rest of the world...assuring that the American people are protected as well is not being irresponsible...heck, you've even been served by this administration.
You're kinda creepy with baron dude. Let it go. You fucked up and he broke up with you.....
It's getting to be like restraining order time.
awhile...but nonetheless, this is an Open Forum and I'll respond to his posts which I'm sure other people will see...pretty simple.
We've been through this "Threatening Thing" that is ostensibly the rationale for him hiding before... .and it's total nonsense..once again...a) I don't even know who he is so as to even try 'threatening', and b) it's literally impossible for an innocent person to be 'threatened'...they'd just think "Go for it..I've got nothing to worry about"...between you and me, I think he's a bit intimidated that I have reliable medical opinions close by who can counter his more outlandish statements...makes him uncomfortable and he'd rather not get one-upped so often.
Bottom line, there's no "Smoking Gun" post of mine that could possibly be construed as a "Threat", so I'm good...you can say whatever you want.

and those who are unvaccinated to have adequate and low-cost rapid COVID tests?...or are you just blowing spitballs at random?
Personally, I applaud Mr. Mazer's commentary in highlighting the urgent need for VERY LOW cost rapid home tests...and, as the attached link illustrates, "It's Complicated"...European countries have found a way to get $1/test kits in people's hands while we in the U.S. of A can't get the price below $10-15/test...part of the problem is how the tests are categorized by the FDA (i.e. as 'Medical Instruments', with all the regulations and cost that entails). Fortunately, Joe Biden's admin is working on it, while getting as many kits out as possible...unlike the ZERO effort expended by the previous administration led by Mr. "When you test, you get cases" (not good).
btw, this excerpt from your link was interesting.."Mazer implored public-health experts to lead the charge toward "thriftiness," and admitted that he himself, a "privileged" person, had stocked up his own stash of test kits. "...it's human nature...if one can protect one's self, family and others, they will...as did we, btw, at our family gathering...how about you?...any interest in home testing, Ned?

As for me, we did waste test kits by testing everyone to make sure an elder in the family was safe.
What about you? Did you waste test kits, too?
should be able to do...consequently, as I said, I applaud Mr. Mazer for highlighting the desperate need for affordable kits...and the Biden administration for doing something about it...let's hope that this rather complex issue is resolved quickly.
I'm very pleased to hear that you are on-board with this thinking...it's only a 'waste' if no effort is expended to remedy the problem of universal availability for the test kits...and it's wrong to "Hoard" test kits that won't be used...it is not wrong to use this essential tool.
btw, we only use the kit for infrequent gatherings..and since everyone at our Christmas dinner took an 'Oath' to isolate for seven or more days prior to the gathering, we used only one test just before the event, rather than the two suggested by the manufacturer, so as to not "waste" tests...call us 'risk takers' if you wish, but we're trying to be considerate ;-).

what I said, here it is again...with emphasis added this time...
"I APPLAUD Mr. Mazer for highlighting the desperate need for AFFORDABLE kits...and the Biden administration for DOING SOMETHING about it...let's hope that this rather complex issue is resolved quickly.

That's it...if you'd like me to repeat it, just ask...it's easy to 'cut & paste'...if you have another point of view, share it and I'll respond.
