With BK being confirmed I thought the bitterness might subside. I mean it's poor taste to rub someone's nose in it but then I tried to look at things from all angles. The left will take one position and those on the right will take another. Who is objective out there-hard to find.
I read an editorial by someone who should be a champion of BK, someone who should be proud that one of his was headed to the SC.
The editorial was by the dean of Yale Law School. A person who is a brilliant legal scholar with a history of constitutional expertise.
Read his editorial.
The dean has no axe to grind, should even be proud-sadly, he's not.
I'd like to hear, not the usual bullshit about DT or Comey, or Dr. Ford. Tell me what you think of the dean's article. Just the dean.
I was taken aback by Kavanaugh's overreaction in front of the Senate. I felt it that he did lose it a bit, and I wished at the time that a different nominee had been offered. I could also understand his outrage, but he should have composed himself and responded as if he were above it. Scalia would have been upset, but would have sliced up the crazed harpies with a sly smile and words they probably would not have understood. Kavanaugh is quite apparently no Scalia... in terms of temperament or wit. But so what? He will support largely conservative opinions, which is why he was nominated. If a more temperate conservative had been nominated we would have gotten the exact same opinions. I feel that we need to chilax and enjoy living. On a relative timescale the world's injustices are increasingly di minimis.

I agree with virtually everything you've said. I guess my complaint remains with the left and right who make outlandish claims, distort, and both maintain attitudes of self righteousness-no pun intended. There were many sad moments by senators from both parties during the hearing. GOP, led by Trump,allegedly want to keep the rancor and bitterness going to "energize their base." Dems, of course, will overreact, take the bait and the rancor will live on.
To quote William Yeats:
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
The Second Coming
The problem with social media is that kooks can find comfort in company so much more easily than in real life.

But its just a metaphor for when conflicts within a system become exaggerated, as they seem to have recently. To be honest, however, things are no where near as drastic today as they were in the late 60's.
The best do lack conviction and it seems like the worst, Trumpisim and leftist radicalism has been unleashed.
And like the universe, it's expanding and accelerating. Dark energy, yo...
Would be glad to evaluate what dean said if you link it. I am not holding much hope for someone immersed in that liberal academic environment, but you never know.
I will say that your comment about the right “rubbing it in” comes on the heals of a CNN segment talking about the same thing just last evening (and I am sure MSNBC and the other MSM sites are carrying the same talking points as usual). It is quite common to see this phenomenon on the board but hopefully your post is coincidental rather than regurgitative.
There are three factors involved with that observation: 1) snowflakes on the Left are melting easily after dishing it out hard themselves during the process, 2) the Right is being egged on by continued resistance to Kav even after his appointment in the form of talk of impeachment and continued protests, and 3) there is some rubbing in going on as well after the victory by the Right after a bitter fight.
The same phenomenon occurred after a HCR.

He has it backwards- the Dems tried an unethical hit job by using a liar and waiting until the last possible second to spring her lies on Kavanaugh and Kavanaugh was understandably pissed off.
Now why can't the left accept the result rather than the Nadler types promising to impeach Kavanaugh if the Dems take the House in the id-terms? Talk about partisan BS.
Talk of impeachment is insane. These are a faction, not the entire liberal movement. The dean's article was insightful, and with his background, I would say worth listening to. Unable to respond to this thoughtful article some dismiss it as unhinged.
