Yeah, we are old. I saw this fact somewhere online, and I am feeling esp old since I used to love M*A*S*H and later Cheers, both of which preceded Seinfeld and both had equally long runs.
I remember Friday nights with Brady Bunch followed by a new original episode of Star Trek as a kid. And I learned to love Bonanza because I’d watch it with my grandma. Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Gunsmoke, Gilligan’s Island. All so long ago, but still seems like yesterday with the reruns on cable.
I always thought Seinfeld >>> Friends, that’s for sure.
The Office was more recent so I wasn't as surprised by that one...
This must be the greatest lineup ever. Each of these shows is legendary.
All In The Family
MASH
Mary Tyler Moore Show
The Bob Newhart Show
The Carol Burnett Show
MASH was a good show the first few years. McCleen Stevenson(sp?) and Wayne Rodgers left because Alan Alda insisted on approving the scripts and kept wanting the good lines, and most of the attention. This is openly acknowledged by some who were on the show. Mike Farrell(sp?)took over for Wayne Rodgers and knowing that Alda was "Mr. Sensitive" played up to him and the show got too preachy. They were fighting the Korean war but the comments were aimed at Viet Nam.
A crazy neighbor of mine said the Saturday night line up was a Catholic network because Carroll O'connor, Alda, Mary Tyler Moore and Newhart were all Catholic. How he found this out I don't know but it turned out to be true. Like I said, he was crazy.
Found this. Another great show. Different phone message every episode.
