Apparently, the wind mills are not spinning fast enough so maybe Biden should put in another call to Putin and Anthony Blinken should rephrase his comment regarding re-imposing sanctions on Nord Stream 2 not having an impact 'because it is not even operating.' because in all likelihood the Euros out of necessity are going to have to approve any outstanding permit issues fairly quick now.
In the meantime Biden has somewhat naively, hopefully not intentionally, all but excluded the Crimeans from the table, thereby handed the country over to Putin. His idea of looking at ways to support a resistance group to fight the Russians a la Afghanistan, is a disgusting policy.
Stream 2 issue...I could only get a brief glance at it before they covered it up with a request for a sizable subscription...what I did see were words implying that the U.S. could suffer its own sanctions plus some concern about losing the Dollar's dominant currency position...wish I could find more on this from another source...nonetheless, it could be that this whole thing is some sort of "Gordian Knot" for want of a better description.
All in all, it seems that we're caught between a rock and a hard place on an issue that has clearance levels far above what any of us are privy to.
As for Germany's energy choices, I agree with you that they've made some poor choices...I still remember competing with 'Kraftwerk Union' on nuclear plant deals...fingers crossed that they take a look at the TOTAL cost of Wind Farms...i.e. lifecycles, storage and load factors...and get KWU back in the game.
