Anthony Foley, a retired legendary #8 for Ireland, died suddenly the day before. During the Haka, Ireland formed a figure eight in his memory and went on to beat them.
Saw many games with Foley at 8 when I lived in London. Rugby is a fantastic sport. The fans are super-friendly, never an issue like you see in soccer. And the game is a zillion times more engaging, imo.
3 very happy Irish guys sitting close by. I think one was saying it was the first win ever over New Zealand but not sure I got his comment correctly
I believe it was Ireland’s first win in Dublin against the ABs. It’s really amazing that Ireland are so great at an English sport. They have been pretty dominant in the Six Nations for 18 years now. Tiny nation playing English game and they have basically owned the Poms for a few decades.
Screaming fans. Incredible experience. They beat the shit out of a USA all star team. Wish we got more coverage here.
