Roberts does have a legal out... because although Congress itself eliminated the mandate it left the rest of the law intact. That demonstrates legislative intent not to end Obamacare. The last thing Roberts wants is to find Obamacare unconstitutional. That would pave the way for a Democrat sweep in 2020, socialized medicine and the the slow death of the free enterprise system.

free markets actually exist. If anything resembling free market capitalism actually existed, the entire world economy would have collapsed in 2007. Keep drinking the Kool-aid Curly, keep drinking the Kool-Aid. The boys at the top of the pyramid would never stand for anything resembling free market capitalism,..Never! Only a naive child would believe otherwise.
But they come and go and get replaced by newbies with novel approaches. Nonetheless. we are far closer to a free enterprise system than the Europeans... and as a result we are far more innovative. My concern is that turning over our health care system to the government, which would run it like they do the postal system would be the first step down the slippery slope to an economy run by the leviathan state. I can live with Obamacare as a compromise.
flourish as individuals making our own choices in our attempt to improve ourselves and maximize our potential. Things do go wrong and get frustrating with the free market system but the alternative of socialism limits what we can accomplish as human beings. The very best case during socialism would give us a potential equivalent to a B-, leaving us frustrated and completely unfulfilled. The only people that would survive socialism would be those that socialism targets the most. Ironic and unfair for those who seek to improve.
The best thing about our system is that it gives us the most choice in how potentially successful we could be. Any other system falls way short of this.

First, it assumes That Roberts is an activist judge like other Left wing judges. In fact, it is most likely that what Roberts “wants” to happen will not factor into his decision. Second, even if it does, it presumes that Roberts wants to keep it, and further that he wants to keep it when there is no longer a mechanism to fund it.
Roberts ruled that the mandate was legal because it was a tax (even though Obama himself said that it was not), and this was the reason he voted with the libs. That aspect of the Plan is now gone.
It is likely that Roberts will not be an activist for this plan’s continuance. But regardless of what is in his mind, this is very, very far from declaring Obamacare “safe”.
It’s sad how the Left needs to be comforted by it’s MSM which has taken on a bizarre maternal sort of role for their readers who sit in the nest chirping for more worms to be regurgitated to them. Sorry to tell you this, but everything is not ok for you, and Obamacare is almost assuredly going down as soon as the SCOTUS hears the case - likely this June.
He knew that overturning Obamacare would have been a disaster for those who prefer less government control of the economy, because it would have swept the Dems into power in two of the three branches of government. That would also have ultimately resulted in the appointment of a flood of "progressive" (sic) Federal judges. Health care is the biggest issue for most Americans and is easily demagogued, especially when most people do see it as a basic human right.

.....perfectly safe.
Hilarious that an anonymous online character with barely the wits to formulate [NT] posts would seriously entertain betting. Post your name and the address of the Burger King branch where you can be reached as a sign of good faith. After all, we both know that you won’t pay when you lose.
It’s perfectly safe, Lance.....perfectly safe.
