always.
Nice to see that the deep state still has its shit together in the District.

hours easily. Despite the proximity rarely go there.

So many cool new neighborhoods, so much more to do.
A very livable town...as long as you’re loaded.
A huge chunk of the bailout money stayed right there in town.
Should give people pause...but doesn’t for the most part.
a highly centralized government of 1.3 billion people. Half of Beijing's population were government employees and their families, a political class, a special interest group, different than other groups of Chinese. In china, People mock Beijing by saying every Beijinger can become president.
about enriching that group, the great unwashed become restless.
I don’t balee that the elites have necessarily on whole governed poorly over our history, but they have become immune to understanding that they are there to serve the greater good, not themselves, and that they serve only by the fiat of everyone else.

per Forbes.
A key indicator that government largess has crossed a threshold.
NYC has banking and finance. SF has tech and finance. LA has the entertainment industry.
I keep forgetting. What does DC have? What ever it is, people must really pay a lot for it.

You must be rich.
Put the $40 you save into a better bottle of wine.
I only go there when a vendor is paying...and they choose it. Maybe for a very special occasion...but I haven't had such an occasion yet. It is good, but there are other places that are as good in my opinion, and not as expensive.
Picked up a couple of bottles of Venge today. I have had other vintages but I think I will lay these down for a couple of years.
You must be rich. ;-)
Sounds like you got a recent vintage?
Do you order direct? Or do you just buy when the local stores get it?
Local wine shop. The wine scene here is rough, but getting better.
Stocked up on Spanish and Italian reds for the holidays.
I'm still trying to figure out which Italian & Spanish wines are good. I bought 4 in the $20 range for the holidays myself (store gave a 15% discount, so I got them for 17). Jury is still out. I still have a hard time spending any more than that on something that is not from California. I like a nice (read: expensive) cab with a medium rare steak, but I'm not convinced you need to spend a lot to have a good Italian for a pasta meal.
I was mostly a beer guy until about 5 or 6 years ago. I'm still figuring this wine thing out. I know I like the good stuff, because my outside counsel buy it for me, and I can taste the difference. I'm still trying to find the balance of price and taste for my own purchases, however. I have expensive tastes, but I am a cheapskate as well. And yet, as I get older, I splurge a little more...fewer years left, so why not enjoy a little more.

I don’t go often, but enjoy it when I do.
In fact, the steakhouse at our local casino is just as pricey and decidely average.

The steaks though rock and are no worse priced than any decent NYC steakhouse. Plus the dickhead politicians have all cleared out of town, cept for one. Winning.
