Over the course of the last 25 years, university administrators have increased the pay for - and number of - university administrators to amazing (and unconscionable) heights.
Faculty pay has not risen much in the same era. Admin pay and unnecessary new buildings have.
This is why I have never given to my alma mater - universities waste money.
And I am an enabler for it. I feel a solid sense of guilt. The whole system is horribly inefficient, uncaring to its customer base and accountable to no one.
That list of admin folk is typical. And horrible.
I think a quarter million plus in tuition is enough donation for a lifetime for me.
Just fill up on adjuncts. While stuffing middle management so full to comical proportions.
Sallie Mae needs to die.

Well done Chris. Great post, seriously.
Did not go well.
The missus wasn't amused and told me I could not.

They love their diversity, except when it comes to diversity of thought.

To your credit, you have a few more intellectual chops than he and can actually have a logical debate when pushed.

The better issue is whether 94 is correct that there is that that type of bloat all the way around. If so, Hank’s original point about costs is even stronger.

Again, administration bloat is horrible. An major problem.
Diversity administration bloat is only one small part, a drop in the bucket.
But it’s the only drop that bothers you, David Duke, Townhall.com, Rush and Sean and all the other right-wing warriors for whiteness. You are offended by diversity. We know.
The problem is the amount of money universities spend on admin. Those people from that list at UM have dozens - scores - of equally overpaid peers doing even more pointless crap.
And I'm a racist, too. Wink, wink, Cuddles!

If the combined salaries of all administrators at Meechigan account for less than 10% of its totabl budget, is that also a "drop in the bucket" and thus insignificant?
If you want to make an even more sophisticated argument/question, ask him whether 1-10% of the budget is significant given the enormous drop in state support for general funds for public universities over the past 50 years? In other words, if 80% of the general funds for a university used to come from the state and now it is down to 15%, is 2% of the budget devoted to diversicrats significant when faced with the prospect of that percentage of state support dropping to 12% in a couple years?
You end up with dumbfuck racist opinions.
Admin bloat is a horrible problem. Diversity admin bloat is only one small - and relatively insignificant - part.
Except for MAS, David Duke and the PC police.
There is more to the list. It's incredible that students and their parents don't challenge these places on this garbage. I believe Purdue had 200 provosts as of a couple years ago.
One other thing to keep in mind: those diversicrats carry with them costs beyond their salaries. They're the ones who devise re-education training programs, for more intitiatives and requirements to locate any candidates "of color" with pulses and graduate degress (a tough proposition in several fields) and push for admission of more and more unqualified students, who in turn require more remedial courses. Most importantly, and unlike other positions, they are charged with finding/manufacturing instances of inequity and discrimination, which they, of course, find, which not only justifies their positions, but necessitates hiring even more diversicrats to root out these "inequities" the "systemic racism" that grows more expansive each year as these same folks redefine things like "racism" and "discrimination" to include more and more behaviors.
And 11 million out of a budget of more than 9 billion.
Out of control!

Which is a fair interpretation.
Someone picked out that particular department, as opposed to some other administrative function or group that represents more than 0.1% of the budget.
Because that is silly.

I don't make up the rules. That's just how it goes.
Enjoy.

I saw in the comments where Rutgers is requiring students to take a coruse in avoiding microaggressons. Isn't that a microaggression in itself?
