It could certainly get ugly, and you can't count on the authorities to protect your family, let alone the government.
Another reason the AR-15 platform is so popular...it is versatile enough to convert into (among many other things) a soda can cannon.
You don't need a machine gun. Just buy a shotgun.
I think I need to add a hand gun and a rifle.

At 20 feet you might have a 6 inch spread.
For most home defense shooting distances, you have to aim. Easy to miss with a shotgun if you aren't aiming center mass...especially if you are stressed, which you will be.

Silencers should be sold at Rite-Aid, right next to the ear plugs. Not related to your post...just sayin'
Three rings of checkpoints.
For foreigners, name and passport number are on the tickets. Locals have their name and ID number.
Guys with full auto machine guns at all checkpoints. Impressive.
Ours is a joke in comparison.
We are a little behind, but we will have to get far more serious about it.
They claim to have so many cameras in there now that they can go back and track any problem causers right back to their seats.
They flew a plane over Iraqi cities, taking an extremely detailed photo every second...the moment an IED went off, they would find the explosion on an image, and then go back one second at a time until they saw the people placing it...then they tracked the people back to where they went, and dispatched a kill team. Every IED maker was killed over time. It became a very dangerous job.
Imagine that technology being employed in the US by the police to stop all murders...then all thefts? It is coming.
No privacy concerns, though. We will only elect benevolent leaders as president.
I learned a word, too, never a bad thing. Kakistocracy. Unfortunately, it may come in handy this year.
"When the indictments come down, Trump won’t play by the rules. He’ll seek to delegitimize those rules. He’ll seek to delegitimize our legal institutions. He’ll personalize every indictment, slander every prosecutor. He’ll seek to destroy the edifice of law in order to save himself."
This is exactly right. And his base will follow him into whatever maelstrom of mendacity and tyranny he takes them (and us).
If 2019 doesn't scare you, then you have not been paying attention.
God help us if the Democrats are not responsible in their opposition.

They are the only conservative religious types that haven’t.
The rest just shrug their shoulders or worse at what he does.
When you see the lengths that otherwise decent people will go to to defend or ignore the indefensible, it makes me think that sometime in the future it could indeed happen here under the wrong circumstances and with the wrong demagogue.
What really saved our democracy was Trump’s venality and incompetence.
A clever authoritarian could have undermined our institutions and democracy.
It is horrible to realize that indeed it can happen here.
That's why we want the Constitution to be a power-limiting document which limits the power of the president, and not a living, breathing document which means whatever the president wants it to mean.
I've been trying to get you guys to come around...and I suspected that it would take someone like Trump to convince you.
Strangely, I think most anti-Trumpers are not really convinced that the Constitution should be there to stop despots. They are only convinced that they need to work harder to maintain power (because despots only occur on the other side). That makes it even more likely that it will happen here.

They do seem to live their religion as a vocation and not just pay lip service to it, at least IMHE.
Multiple times, crossed the line in business several times. Lost his license. Ended up buying him out. Funny, he led like two lives - all the time he was cheating he was trying to convert people and blabbing about his Sunday service and why his religion was the only true religion. Glad to hear that the majority sound more solid.

I grant you that Trump is a scumbag. But, he was elected. As Chris says, you may want to be responsible in how you handle things. Burglarizing the White House may not be the best option.
Instead, he laid down a marker when someone Republican, not leaving office or retired, had to have the balls to do it.
