This will bolster Trump and simultaneously cause some cracks in the Left's resistance to the wall. This is their most critical voting group. This makes total sense.
Can't wait for the spin from the Left to calm the fears.

This is about politics, not policy. The policy is irrelevant; the wall would be irrelevant.
Example: Trump said this yesterday: “Heroin alone kills 300 Americans a week, 90 percent of which comes across our southern border. We can stop heroin.”
We can stop heroin? Does anybody believe that?
Rather than disrupt and reduce the problem, you advocate doing nothing? Talk about politics over policy...
We have met negative illegal immigration.
I really don’t care if there is a wall or not. It will make no difference to anything.
This is all farce.

A wall will obviously help as all of history has taught us. Is it able to be bypassed - sure, anything is. but it will decrease the volume significantly, and make it easier to catch people who have to try to bypass it instead of moving unimpeded across the border.
The status quo is NOT just fine, and you vastly underestimate the crime committed against citizens by criminals coming up from Mexico (not the families, but the criminals down there that Mexico is dumping on us up here, as well as the drug cartels, and the human traffickers - they really do exist, and if you want to think otherwise for convenience after family after family tells their story, then we simply will never agree).

And worth the investment as part of a larger immigration control plan.
I'd rather have a balanced budget than a wall...

Unless you want the ballot box stuffed by illegal votes for your party and billions of tax dollars spent on non-citizens.

But, Trump has deliberately shut down the government, wrongly calculating that the shutdown gave him political leverage to spend billions on a silly wall, — something the GOP could not pass in 2017 and 2018 when they controlled both chambers.
Let democracy and legislation have full and rigorous debate about the most effective balance regarding any and all immigrant issues and funding. Make elected members vote and take a stand.
Currently, the question is whether to open the Government? The Democrats voted Day 1 of this session to do so.
The GOP controlled Senate refuses to bring that question to the floor.
Trump refuses to undo his shutdown for fear of letting down his base. The nation’s best interests remain irrelevant to him.
This is 100% about GOP politics. Nothing else.

All nonsense.
How about a temporary worker program that lets these people pay taxes? That way they’d pay for their own services.
But that would be amnesty.
This is a non-crisis that has been promoted by Trump to motivate his base. It’s all theater. Full stop.
Because you don't care about nation-wide voter fraud that benefits your side.
Hypocrites.
I do not understand that one. It’s not true.1
...versus its ENTIRE adult citizen population. The state of California was at 101%.
Let that sink in.
So that might merely mean that today’s registered voters are mostly alive, but not all.

But of course, mentioning heroin is just a scare tactic. Most drugs enter through the normal checkpoints or by sea.

Of course the other side of it is the prescription opioid gateway which also needs to be addressed.
