This is all new territory. No idea how it plays out.
But I think divided government is going exceptionally well in the Trump era, don't you?

You were an open complainer about the "obstructionist Republicans" and "the Party of No" when Obama was president and you wanted his agenda implemented.
You rationalized Obama's dictatorial use of Executive Orders as you rationalized the misuse of a nonconstitutional loophole called "reconciliation" to change the entire health care delivery system.
NOW though, you see the beauty of the magnificent document that, if followed, gives those citizens whose party is not in power a voice. But if it's "living and breathing" like liberals have claimed in the past, then it could be modified to shut you down.
Government should be seen and not heard in our lives. I'm totally fine with what we have right now. Trump has been fabulous, but as Ned and I both predicted, it is in partly because the constitutional system in place keeps some of Trump's excessive tendencies in check.
We have: Isis defeated, fabulous economic recovery with jobs, a tax cut (related to #2), 2 beautiful SCOTUS appointees with a 3rd likely as well along with 89 new judges and counting at lower levels, a new NAFTA agreement that is far more equitable to the US, NO shackles from the ridiculously lobsided Paris Accord, a much needed investment into upgrading and modernizing our military and our nuclear arsenal, North Korea negotiations with a tremendous simmering down of world-threatening tensions since Trump took over from Obama, massive amounts of deregulation which has helped small business (again related to #2), China has been pushed back against, and it has backed away from some (I said some) of their aggressive currency manipulations and abuse of the US intellectual property as well as the trade inequities, NATO members agreeing to actually pay their fair share after being told the free ride is over (and being made to understand that it was unseemly), the EU also capitulating to US trade demands, and interestingly a sharp decrease in the number of race related riots, etc since the Great Divider left office and a POTUS came in who provided all minority groups (and women) with the highest unemployment rates in US non war time history.
I could go on. But all of this was achieved without Armageddon thanks in arge part to that beautiful US Constitution. You can thank me for my Trump vote in private - I won't tell anyone.

I am trying to come up with some examples of government solutions to problems that have worked out well in the last couple decades. Drawing a blank.
You should read this, by the Moneyball guy.

when you do it, you don't consider it "fucking the poor". Dems knew this was coming, used to support the measure themselves before Trump, and this was very clearly the main issue in the last election and the voters spoke. at this point, you are unwilling to support a budget bill with even a pittance for a Wall purely to cause trump a loss. in other words, you are "fucking the poor" for your own political concerns.
You need to stop feeling so morally superior when you are actually doing what you are accusing others of doing.
Illegal immigrants are not taking US jobs.
Food stamps do, however, help the poor. Tremendously.
Not much more to discuss.
compromising and geting the program back in full gear.
It is not the poor that I am worried about, nor any one that I know. It is the criminals, the drugs, the human trafficking, and the generalized encouragement of chaos that an open border has created. Make everyone come through legally at US check points free of the criminal vermin. Stop encouraging the human suffering.
Do this and help DACA and the poor with signing on the Trump's comrpomise. Stop fucking the poor is what I am saying to you.
And stop believing the MSM - Angel Families are real, and they are in great enopugh number that I consider this an emergency.
