every one wants to come up with the best solutions. Sad when it is made a "victory" because one side supposedly "wins."

dug at Trump saying “ Maybe he’s learned his lesson now” because his ego just couldn’t let him resist doing it.
In 3 weeks, emergency order will be very defensible.
You are correct to look at the long game here.

Trump shut the gov't down when his party controlled both houses. The Dems (rightfully) refused to negotiate while Trump held the gov't hostage. He painted himself in a corner and for the first time in his presidency seems to have recognized the mistake.
Hopefully we can now get a real immigration fix like trading the wall for permanent DACA protection.
Trump couldn't give a flyin' rats ass about the people of the US or people of any other country.
It's sad you all see this as some sort of game/board-game. People aren't Milton Bradly pieces to move around at a roll of a dice and elected officials are there to work for the people and not self-interests.

It will cost him voters, not because he fought for his wall, but because he used federal employees as hostages to make his claim.
The Democrats may or may not yield on funds for a silly wall, depending upon what benefits a bipartisan bill may contain.
The 35 day shutdown had zero to do with whether Democrats would negotiate in good faith. There are willing, and have been willing.
But, they were not going to be bullied or extorted, knowing full well that the overwhelming number of Americans agreed that the downside to a federal shutdown far outweighed the benefits (if any) of a wall.

out for what happens in three weeks because the democrats are looking like the assholes whereas the republicans look like they are trying to solve the problem. By the way I read something about a poll that showed that the popularity for Hispanics toward Trump went up 20 points after he pushed for the border "wall".
Everyone in Congress knew from the jump that the economic downside to a shutdown would generate far more public outrage and security concerns versus any faint public support for a Wall.
Democrats can now take charge in crafting meaningful immigration legislation.
