While most were mere moments from eviction, somehow these stalwart champions somehow soldiered on through the devastating degradation and humiliation of a federal shutdown. Let us all pause to give thanks to our protectors who selflessly sat on their asses over the past month.
They just got a month's paid vacation.

There were several years in which my last company would shut down for two weeks a year, and no pay was given for those two weeks unless people chose to take their vacation during those weeks. Another employer laid off a third of the employees, and never brought them back (arguably because of BS laws passed in D.C.).
At this point, I would think you accept a government job with the knowledge that at some point, you will need 4-6 weeks of take home pay as savings. But, you know that your company will never go out of business, and you know that layoffs are more rare than in the private sector. And, you know that when the shutdown is over, your emergency fund will be fully replenished...something else that doesn't happen int he private sector. All in all, the government workers have it better in this regard.

Total BS. The IRS and Federal Income Tax should be abolished.
What ever happened to that promised tax reform which would make things so simple people could file their taxes on a postcard?
